Today I took part in the Beijing Foreign Language Festival with my friend Li Ming. We arrive there by bike in the morning. First we attended to a lecture introduced good methods of learning English. The audience all listened but took notes carefully. Then we went to the English Corner, there lots of people were talking with foreigners in small group. Li Ming and I joined them with greatly interest. That was amazing to find myself talking with the native speaker and we got on quite well. Time passed quickly. Before leaving, we bought some books and dictionaries. The festival gave you a good chance to practice my English.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised a group of middle school students for their efforts in satellite design. He said he was pleased with their curiosity and bravery in       1       (science) exploration. The president also wished the teachers and students in Bayi School     2     happy new year.

Xi made the praise in a letter     3       (write) to the students in Beijing’s Bayi School on Saturday. A small satellite designed and developed by them     4       (send) into space last Wednesday at Taiyuan Satellite Launch (发射) Center     5     it was designed to operate in orbit (轨道) for 180 days.

Three months ago, Xi returned to his high school, to visit a laboratory and talk to teachers and students     6     were designing the small satellite. The president said he was     7     (extreme) glad to know that the satellite designed by the students would be launched and called on them to become     8     (build) of the country.
