We got to the cafe an hour before Anna was scheduled arrive. Learning that they wanted to give Anna a birthday surprise, a friendly waiter was more than happier to be our partner. He finds some colourful balloons, for which we decorated the cafe. We had just done all the work while Anna came into sight. We greeted her with our smiles or the gift we had prepared before. Anna stood there, with tears filled her eyes. When I handed the gift to her, she was too excited that she couldn’t help screaming. “This is the best birthday surprise I have ever been received!” she cried, hugging me tightly.
With the Spring Festival come, there will be a long winter holiday. Therefore, I am not going to travel anywhere, because of I don’t want to join the crowds. Instead, I just want to stay at home and enjoyed the family time. I am so delightedly that my grandparents will come to stay with us for few days. So my parents decide to having a family hotpot and invite some relatives together. It is so a great reunion that everyone will have much fun. What’s more, we will drive to our hometown, what is near the city center. There will be fewer people and we can appreciate the beauty of natures.

The Spring Festival, also knowing as the Chinese New Year, is a tradition festival in China. The Spring Festival usually falls in late January or early February. People celebrate them in different ways.
I always come back to home to celebrate the festival with my family. On the eve of the Spring Festival, all the family members will get together or have a big dinner. Then, while watching the Spring Festival Gala, we will play games and talk about which has happened recently until midnight.
On first day of the New Year, people usual wear new clothes and visit their relatives. They said “Happy New Year!” to each other, which is a good way to express their best wish for the coming year.
There is a tradition in my family. On New Year’s Eve, all my relative will come to our house for a feast. As matter of fact, it isn’t the food that bring us together but the sense of belonging does. Making dumplings was always great fun. We put a coin into one of the dumplings. Everybody expects to eat the one with the coin inside, because it is said whomever gets the coin will have a good fortune in the followed year. When my mom serves the dumplings, they help ourselves immediately, hoping to get the good luck of our entirely year. The coin never comes to me, and I am pretty sure of that the luck is always there.

It was my best friends, Tina’s birthday last Saturday. Maria, Anna and I go to visit her. She lives in Rose Street not far away our school. In the morning we bought some presents and got here by bus. Tina, her parents and grandparents were very glad to see us. We gave the presents who we bought to Tina and she was very much happy. Then Maria and Anna helped Tina’s mother preparing lunch. I helped set the table but cut the cake excitedly with Tina. All of you had a great time. At 4 o’clock in an afternoon, we said goodbye and went back home.

Last Sunday, my friend and I go to a newly-opened supermarket and each of us bought a notebook for our English learning. After that, we went to a restaurant nearby to having lunch. The prices were a bit steep, but we thought it would worth it if the food was good. Sadly, we were disappointing. We waited for our food for over thirty minute. Our sausages were burnt and very dry that we couldn’t even cut them. His friend’s steak was even worse. Moreover, the carpet was out of date and wore, the chairs were very uncomfortable but the walls needed painting. I think we’ll never go to there again.

It was Grandpa’s 70th birthday. Early in the morning, I wake up excited. After getting dressed quickly, I headed downstairs and found Mum and Dad were already there busily prepared lunch. I checked the gift special made for Grandpa, a video of his life story. Just before lunchtime, there came some guests, which turned out to be Grandpa’s best friends from secondary school, all in seventies. They had a great fun talking to each other. There were a lot of laughter and quite a few tear in their eyes. Grandpa said excitedly it was the best birthday celebration he’d had but that he was grateful for that we had done for him.

In order to show our deeply love for the motherland, our school hosted a singing competition the day before the National Day. Before that was happened, each class had asked to choose a song from those about loving our motherland to compete against each other. We choose one and practiced it hard before the final competition. It was our great efforts what helped us to win the first prize finally.
In October 1st, a grand military parade was held at Tiananmen Square to celebrate a 70th birthday of the PRC. Most people all over the country watched them on TV or on the Internet, which must be the most concerned events during the seven-day holiday. Never have I experienced a much unforgettable holiday than that.
