Going abroad was the toughest decision I’ve ever faced. Being an introverted (内向的) and quiet girl, I tend to keep to     1     (I). For this reason, heading of to a new country     2     I did not know anyone was scary, but I knew it would be worth it.

Landing in Beijing was like coming home. This city that I had never been to     3     (feel) like the right place to be. Right then and there, I knew that everything would be okay. Throughout my time in China, I shared unique experiences     4     newfound friends that I would never have met in the States. On my very first day in Beijing, I had already formed my core group of friends, marking the     5     (begin) of an adventurous journey. From exploring the hutongs of Beijing and the paths of the classical Chinese gardens to     6     (appreciate) the beauty of ancient architecture across the country, these experiences added significant layers to my     7     (culture) awareness. Traveling to a country with language barriers     8     (far) improve my communication slills.

Choosing to study in China stands as     9     best choice I’ve ever made. Beyond advancing my education, I had the chance     10     (explore) the globe with friends who became incredibly important to me and make myself a truly global citizen.

In history, the United Kingdom went through several     1    before the name formed at last. From the 16^th to the 19^th century, Wales, Scotland and the Kingdom of Ireland were     2     to it one after another. But in the 20^th century, the southern part of Ireland broke away from it, which     3     in the name today: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The four countries work together in some areas. They share the same flag, and use the same     4    and military defence but have different education and    5    systems. Throughout history, it was taken over by four different groups.
