文章大意:本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章主要讲述青少年和父母之间发生的冲突及解决方案。

1 . Conflict (冲突) between teenagers and parents happens for a lot of reasons. Sometimes conflict happens between teenagers and parents just because conflict happens between human beings anyway. Humans have different needs, different feelings, different opinions about what they want, and the relationship with people can be really difficult. However, teenagers can cause further conflict because of the hormonal (生理的) changes that are happening and the stage of life that they're in.

Teenagers and parents have different understanding about rules and at times they find it difficult to look into the future. So parents and teenagers will often experience conflict about many things, do chores, homework, whether teenagers speak respectfully or not and about what they're allowed to do.

Before we think about rule boundaries (界线) for teenagers, we need to make sure that we have a really good relationship base. There's no point saying “From now on, you have to listen to me”: if you don't have a positive relationship with your teenager. We need to go back and make sure there is some degree of shared respect, and some degree of positive communication and enjoyment being together. you do that first, it means that rule boundaries are a lot easier to set up.

Often we're dealing with conflict on the fly. This is not the right time to be dealing with it. We really want parents and teenagers to sit down and think about the kinds of things that may happen in the house before the problems come. The more detailed your rule boundaries are for teenagers, the more likely it is that they are going to follow them. So this means we don't have rule boundaries like “Have the bathroom cleaned”. It needs to be “The floors mopped, nothing on the countertop and the mirrors cleaned by ten o'clock every Saturday”: Rule boundaries need to be written down, and set out ahead of time so the teenager knows exactly what's expected.

1. What's important to set up a rule boundary easily for teenagers?
A.Being strict from the start.B.Developing a good relationship with them first.
C.Saying"No" to their requirements.D.Avoiding close talks with them.
2. Which of the following rules are teenagers most likely to follow?
A.Doing some housework.B.Having a good reading habit.
C.Cleaning the bathroom.D.Finishing your homework by five.
3. What do the underlined words "on the fly" in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.In a hurry.B.On the plane.C.By oneself.D.Another day.
4. What's the best title for the text?
A.Growing PainsB.Teenage Problems
C.Parent-Child Conflict and SolutionsD.Knowing the Conflict

6 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

On Sunday, the second day of Spring Festival, a man was killed after he fell into the tiger enclosure while trying to get into the zoo in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang Province, without paying for a ticket.

The tragedy cost two lives, as the tiger was shot dead when zoo employees tried to rescue the man.

As news of the incident spread, the majority of voices online blamed the dead man for the animal’s death. Some said this was a sign that people are becoming more cold hearted. But they are wrong. People have been displaying increasingly more enthusiasm for helping those in need and participating in charity work. In 2016, the China Charity Federation received donations of 18.8 billion yuan ($2.7 billion) in total, 46 percent more than the donations received in 2015, and they sent helping hands to one tragedy after another.

People are just tired of forgiving those in the wrong. While sympathy is right, it has been abused too much. When somebody commits a crime, no matter how cruel the crime is, media outlets explain the criminal’s miserable childhood and there are calls for forgiveness. When someone smokes in public, there are always people calling for tolerance.

People are fed up and angry with lawbreakers escaping their due punishments in the name of forgiveness and tolerance.

But going back to the tragedy at the wildlife park in Ningbo, the tiger’s death shows the park was not well prepared for such emergencies. They did not have any tranquilizer guns that could sedate the tiger immediately and save the lives of both the man and the endangered animal.

In the meantime, it is necessary to raise people’s awareness that the animals in zoos and wildlife parks are not domesticated pets, and of the need for visitors to observe rules for their own safety.

The man in the Ningbo incident paid for his fault with his life, but the tiger was killed for his fault, too. We sincerely hope no more tigers or humans will pay for such fault.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。本文描述了目前孩子们户外活动的情况,作者提出要鼓励孩子们去进行一些户外活动。

8 . Today, we are told children don’t spend enough time in the fresh air. Many of them are addicted to a screen either on a computer or a TV—they seem to be living in a virtual world. They have lost touch with nature.

But now 400 organizations in the UK, from playgroups to the National Health Service, are encouraging children to have some “wild time”. They want kids to swap at least 30 minutes of watching TV or playing computer games for time playing outside. Activities such as building dens, climbing trees, rummaging for conkers and playing hide-and-seek are just some of the things kids can do. Even if they live in a city, they can go on adventures in the garden or the park.

Children often need a helping hand from mums and dads. They need to be shown what to do and where to go. Andy Simpson from the National Health Service says, “We want parents to see what this magical wonder product does for their kids’ development, independence and creativity, by giving wild time a go.”

So despite the complicated world that young people grow up in now, it seems that going back to basics and experiencing “nature’s playground” is what modern children need. David Bond from Project Wild Thing says, “We need to make more space for wild time in children’s daily routine, freeing this generation of kids to have the sort of experiences that many of us took for granted.”

This might sound a bit old-fashioned to you but there’s no age limit on enjoying yourself!

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。介绍了电子游戏给青少年的健康带来的许多问题。

9 . In most towns today, you can see teenagers standing over electronic machines with flashing lights, shooting at spaceships from other planets and dropping bombs on strange monsters (怪兽). The machines have names like Space Warrior, Dark Invader and so on. It used to be believed that damage was done only to those strange visitors from outer space, but now it seems that they are striking back.

Many teenagers like electronic games so much that they can’t stop playing. They spend hours tightly holding the joystick controls and constantly pressing buttons marked “fire”. They develop pains in their fingers because of the constant pressure. They play and play so that the pains have no chance to cure properly. The rapid wrist movement required to guide the spaceship across the screen causes another problem: The muscles of the wrist and arm become so inflamed and swollen (肿胀的) that they press against the bones. This condition is what doctors now call “Space Warrior’s Wrist”.

Other strange aches and pains are also likely to affect the elbows and shoulders. Another even more alarming problem is shown by the case of a 17-year-old girl which was recently in the British Medical Journal. Her father repaired games and machines and she could use the cassettes and systems in his workshop as often as she liked. Doctors who examined her found she was suffering from an unusual illness caused by lights flashing at a particular frequency.

10 . Use Phones Respectfully

You probably spend more time on your smartphone than any other possessions. You take it everywhere—to school, to meals, and even to the bathroom.     1     But we have to learn to use our phones respectfully or at least without offending others around us. Here are some tips for smartphone usage. Take a look.

Use “do not disturb” instead of “vibrate (振动)”.

Loud vibrations in your trousers are disturbing. People can hear your phone vibrate or not, depending on how violently it vibrates.     2

Tell others what you’re doing.

Sometimes, you will be in a situation where you need to use your smartphone.     3    If you don’t, people will think that you’re either interacting with someone else or just getting bored.

    4

Respect others’ privacy such as text messages and e-mail senders by not letting what they type appear on the home screen of your phone when you receive a new message. While you’re at it, use a password to make sure the information stays between you.

Ask permission to swipe (滑动).

When people hand you their phone to look at a photo, this doesn’t mean you can look through all of their photo albums.     5

A.They probably want you to see the one photo they hand to you, not every photo they have taken.
B.Just tell people what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
C.It is difficult to ignore it and it distracts people from what they are doing.
D.Don’t use the feature of SMS Preview on your home screen.
E.You should use your smartphone secretly.
F.Of course, using the smartphone is a great way to keep in touch and share life events.
G.So it’s thrilling to look through all their photos.
