On a normal day at the Brooklyn Center Liquor store, one of the things any customer would be greeted with is a warm smile from Ta Leia Thomas. She is also known as “Ace” by her co-workers.
Her kindness is something that people know about her, and this side of her was fortunately caught on film after she did an act of real concern that made people online feel inspired to share her story.
After going out for lunch, store manager Tom Agnes found Ta Leia serving customers wearing only her socks. It was an unusual sight for him, and knowing the cold weather outside, the manager was a bit concerned about what happened to her.
He decided to carefully examine the security camera footage(监控录像) to find out why Ta Leia was in her socks and had no shoes to protect her feet. That was when he found out the kind act his staff(员工) did for a homeless person.
In the security camera footage, a homeless man can be seen dragging boxes as he passed by the store. The only thing is that he wasn’t actually bringing the said boxes, but he wore them on his feet to serve as his shoes.
Ta Leia saw the man walk by and within seconds, the woman took off her own shoes and approached the homeless man. She gave her shoes to him and returned to work with only her socks on.
“I see his feet and I just took my shoes off,” Ta Leia said.
Ta Leia did not hesitate to give away her prized possession(私人物品) to help others in need. Her kindness is clearly inspiring and something that people online have found to be very uplifting(令人振奋的). Knowing that someone as kind as her is out there helping those in need is quite comforting.

The house next door had been empty for more than a year. Then one day, workmen arrived and started to clean and paint the place. My siblings (兄弟姐妹) and I were curious about who would be moving in. 5 . Just as certain actors led me to acting, certain cooking-show hosts are partly to blame for my heightened interest in the subject of food. The first is of course Julia Child, the queen of culinary (烹饪的) TV.
Child not only changed what Americans cooked and ate, but also greatly impacted their diet of weekly television viewing. Her show The French Chef, which originally aired in 1963, was one of the first cooking shows on American television and lasted for 10 years. Watching her expertly debone a chicken or bake a cake, often making mistakes along the way, made viewers feel that they too could create such dishes. Her achievements were amazing, from her first work, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, to countless others, as well as season upon season of shows.

I know that watching The French Chef with my mom was a way to spend some time with her, because with three kids and a full-time job, she was incredibly busy. In fact, we would often watch the show when she was doing housework like ironing and cleaning. My mother admired Child and in turn passed the feeling to me, along with an interest in how someone goes about cooking a meal.
Years later, I caught an old episode of the show at my parents’ home and watched it with even more attentiveness than I had when I was young. On this particular occasion, I was taken aback by my reaction when Child said her signature farewell (告别), “This is Julia Child, bon appetite!” My eyes suddenly welled up with tears. I realized that I was moved by Child not only because she brought back happy boyhood memories but also because Child herself was so genuinely happy to be doing what she was doing.

I was walking on the shore when I suddenly heard someone crying. It just drew my attention and I began to look around. Suddenly I saw a little child sitting on a rock who was crying. I suddenly recollected the dark memories of my life. I recalled that I was an orphan (孤儿) and how a couple adopted me when I was four years old. They did a lot for me, because of them today I am the engineer of the biggest shipping company. Mack Rutherford, a 17-year -old pilot has become the youngest person to fly alone around the world. He landed his small plane in Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia on Wednesday. That is also where he started his trip five months ago.
His trip, which started in Sofia on a plane owned by the Internet company ICDSoft on March 23, took Rutherford through 52 countries across five continents. The plane, called Shark, can travel at the speed of 300 kilometers per hour. Normally a two-seater, the plane was changed for his long trip by replacing the second seat with an extra fuel container (容器).
Rutherford first planned to make the trip in three months. But it lasted longer because of several barriers, including rainstorms, sandstorms and extreme heat. Most of the delays were caused by waits to get permits and other documents required for keeping with the flight plan.
The flight took him through Africa and the Gulf area to India. China, South Korea, and Japan. He crossed the northern Pacific and landed after 10 straight hours in the air on a volcanic island near the Bering Strait. From her lifeguard station at the end of the pool, Jessica noticed clouds forming in the sky. By the time she took a break at 2:30, the wind was picking up and the sky was darkening.
