2 . A flight attendant’s kindness towards a passenger with Parkinson’s disease is appreciated on the internet after a woman shared his story on social media.
Sharon Radcliffe was on a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to Nashville last week when the flight attendant, Jeffrey Jones, discovered that an older woman in coach class struggled with the neurodegenerative disease. To Radcliffe’s surprise, Jones immediately took the senior by the hand and brought her to an empty seat in first class. “For the ENTIRE flight, I could see him checking in on her, patting her back, helping her get up, walking her (holding hands) up and down the aisle and generally ‘mother hen-ing’ her,” Radcliffe wrote on Facebook.
When Radcliffe asked if he needed any help caring for the woman, Jones simply said: “I got this.” “He told me his grandmother had Parkinson’s and that he was all good, but that he very much appreciated my offer for help,” said Radcliffe. “As I sat in my seat, I literally had tears in my eyes.” Radcliffe, who works at a hospital in Marquette, Michigan, praised Jones for his kindness before she left the plane. Then, she posted the photos of Jones on Facebook where they have been shared thousands of times.
As news agencies continue to pick up the story of Jones’s sympathy, the flight attendant also turned to social media to express his thankfulness for the experience. “All of the positive comments, shares, feedback, etc. have been an amazing and humbling experience for me,” wrote Jones. “And thank you to Delta for showcasing my story, which happens to be one of thousands upon thousands of the good deeds and hearts we as flight attendants perform and share every day in and out of the air.”

3 . On January 9, 2022, it was another cold morning. Temperatures reached lows of 17. 6 °F (-8℃). Dusti Talavera, a housewife in the south suburbs of Denver, was washing dishes in her kitchen when she witnessed a frightening scene outside her kitchen window. Glancing out her kitchen window, she noticed a group of young children playing on an icy pond. Moments later, the children fell through the ice.
Dusti’s heart raced as she saw the children fall through the ice, and she immediately grabbed her shoes to run outside. Submerged(淹没)in the freezing water, the children had lost the strength to stay above the surface. Their fingers were only visible as they desperately tried to grab onto the edges of the ice.
Without hesitation, Dusti placed her own life at risk by stepping on the thin, unstable ice to try to reach the three children. As she reached her hands out to grab them, she also broke the ice and fell into the 15-foot deep pond.
Dusti was first able to reach and pull out the 4-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy. She struggled to reach the last child, a 6-year-old girl. After hearing the loud screams for help, the young girl’s 16-year-old cousin suddenly arrived on scene. He threw Dusti a rope, which she used to drag herself and the young girl out of the water.
All three children were pulled out of the icy water as first responders arrived on scene. The 6-year-old girl was not breathing and had no pulse after being submerged in the icy water for two minutes. First responders performed life-saving CPR. 4 . One night, security guard Aina found a wallet that had been left behind in a customer's cart at the grocery store where he works.
Instead of leaving it in the lost and found, the 22-year-old sent the wallet to the total stranger at her home! While that is impressive in and of itself, what's even more amazing is that he had to ride over 3 miles on his bike to get there because he doesn't have a car.
Aina was able to return the wallet to Chloe, who had forgotten the important item while trying to load her baby and groceries into the car. She couldn't believe Aina's thoughtfulness, so after he left their home, Chloe's husband, Gray, took to Facebook to give the security guard some praise.
“He rode his bicycle to return her wallet. Completely full of everything important to her including cash. Nothing was so much as moved,” Gray explained. “Words cannot do this gentleman justice. He truly is what is right in this world.” From there, the power of social media took over! Gray's post spread quickly for all the right reasons, which gave his business partner, Greg Gaudet, the idea to start a GoFundMe to buy Aina a new car! In just two weeks, they had raised over $25,000—enough to buy Aina a 2017 VW Jetta and cover his insurance and gas costs for six to 12 months!
Aina was completely blown away by the surprise! After all, this was never what he intended when he rode so far to return Chloe's wallet. “I lost stuff before too,” he said. “I would greatly want someone to come forward and do the same if I lost something.”

5 . One day, when I was going to check in at an airport, I noticed there was a big problem. The counter person was telling everyone that all the planes were having problems and they would not be able to fly! And it was suggested that a bus would be provided to take us to Seattle. Everyone was worried, as we only had an hour and a half to make the connecting flight, and the bus was not even at the airport yet.
Finally, the bus pulled up, and the driver said, “They just pulled me out of bed after an all-night shift (夜班), and they expect me to get you to Seattle in time to catch your flight. Good Luck!”
Needless to say, everyone was in a really bad mood. I was loading my luggage into the bus and had slung (吊) my banjo over my back when the driver said, “What? Are you going to play that in my bus?” “Well, really did not plan on it,” I replied. “I was only kidding,” said the driver. But I started thinking about it, and I pulled out the banjo. A worried, angry woman said, “Well, what if I don't like it?” “Then tell me and I will stop,” I replied.
We drove off, and the tension (紧张) made the atmosphere in the bus horrendous! Then I started plucking (弹奏) the old song Blue Skies. In a few minutes, I noticed everyone was singing along. I started to sing, too, and before long, the whole bus burst into song.
One song led to another and everyone seemed to have a request. “Do you know You Are My Sunshine?” Everyone laughed and sang, with food passed around the bus, and before long, the airport was in sight.
The bus driver called, “We made it! We never would have done it without the help of our banjo player.” Shouts of approval rang through the bus. The driver said to me, “This was the best ride I ever had. Thanks for your music.”
A few weeks later, my mailbox was filled with letters from my new friends. Their letters reminded me of how, by reaching out with just a song, you can turn a very tense situation into a peaceful experience-a magical, musical bus ride.

7 . About ten years ago when I was a student in college, I was working as an intern(实习生) at my university’s Museum of Natural History. One day while working at the cash register in the gift shop, I saw an old couple come in with a little girl in a wheelchair.
As I looked closer at this girl, I saw that she was almost set on her chair. I then realized she had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and upper body. She was wearing a little white dress with red dots. As the couple wheeled her up to me, I was looking down at the register. I turned my head toward the girl and gave her a wink(眨眼) . As I took the money from her grandparents, I looked back at the girl, who was giving me the cutest, largest smile I have ever seen.
All of a sudden her handicap was gone and all I saw was this beautiful girl, whose smile just melted me and almost gave me a completely new sense of what life is all about. She took me from a poor, unhappy college student and brought me into her world:a world of smiles, love and warmth.

8 . One determined student stepped off the traditional job for blind people in China, and now challenges a new life at university in Britain. Being a massage therapist(按摩师) is a perfect job for many people with a visual disability, but for Zheng Jianwei, it was far from enough.
The 30-year-old former massage therapist gave up his hospital job in 2009 to prepare for admission to graduate school. He took IELTS(雅思考试), the language-fluency test necessary for university admission in the UK, in 2012 and scored 6.5 points. He was the first blind examinee to take the IELTS in the Southeast Chinese region. After about four years’struggle, Zheng successfully gained an offer from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom and became a graduate student.
However, Zheng’s path to graduate school was not easy. “I can’t take China’s national entrance exam for graduate school, which doesn’t provide study material(材料) for blind students,” he says.
He then turned to search for graduate school overseas. However, English became his nightmare. Zheng studied in special schools for visually challenged students since primary school, but foreign language was never a main subject.
Before giving up his job and learning English again in 2009, Zheng only knew the alphabet, a few words and some basic expressions. “Learning English again in my late 20s is not easy,” he says.
It took him three years of intensive study to gain entrance to a graduate school overseas. Because of the lack of study material, Zheng needs to spend hours and days looking for textbooks for the visually disabled and copying them, while it may take only five minutes for a sighted person to order a plain English textbook from Amazon.
In his parents’eyes, Zheng has been a sensible, independent and decisive man from a young age. Zheng made all the major decisions by himself, including studying abroad and choosing majors. “We just follow his decisions,” the mother says.
