Once there lived a rich man     1     wanted to do something for the people of his town. But first he wanted     2     (find) out whether they deserved his help.

“Who put this stone in the centre of the road?” said the old man. But he did not try to remove the stone. Today I will introduce two of the “Living Legends of Sports” to you. One is Lang Ping, and     1     other is Michael Jordan. Lang Ping is     2     ( know) to Chinese people as a player and a coach. As a player, Lang Ping brought honour and glory to her country. As a coach, Lang Ping     3     (lead) her volleyball team to Olympic gold in Brazil in 2016.

Getting around the city when you are six months pregnant and have a two-year-old girl can be really     1     (challenge). One spring afternoon, we went to one of the grocery stores nearby to buy some food for dinner. Much has been written about the wonders of the World Wide Web. There are countless articles telling us how the internet has made our     1    (life) more convenient. Jan Tchamani, an English teacher in Birmingham, UK, suddenly developed a serious illness and had to quit her job. She found     5     out of work and stuck at home with only her computer to keep her company. Today I will share a true story about an overseas student     1     studied in Germany.

But to his surprise, he was not even given the chance for     5     interview! About six years ago I began my job as an IT     1     (consult).   I had always been quite good with computers. It was a great move for me, as I quickly learned a ton. Every day was fun. It was one of the best and most challenging jobs     2     I had ever had.

When thinking of a few years ahead, I realized that things started to taper(逐渐变窄). I wasn’t learning as much as before. I felt a desire to try     3     different. But I couldn’t get up the courage to make any moves. I     4     (pay) very well; I had a lot of freedom, and great benefits. I had grown comfortable and 1 had been accustomed to an easy life.

I reached out to my boss and let him know about my idea. We had a meeting about my personal decision. He didn’t want to lose me. Now a year after my role change, not much is different. Senior staff did not adopt     8     new systems I built. The work is still uninspiring and unchallenging. I’ve again quit my job. I need a greater challenge. I’ve learned a lot     10    my quitting experience.
