I had a very special teacher in high school. Her husband unexpectedly died of a heart disease. About a week after his     1     (die), she shared some of her thoughts with us.

When the class was nearly over, she     2     (move) some things aside on her desk and sat down there. Almost all the people like travelling. For some people, travelling is a chance to relax and escape     1     the busy daily life. For others, it’s interesting to learn about other people’s cultures and lives. They consider it to be     2     best way to have fun.

Of course, there are people who are always     3     (happy) with the way the life is. But luckily, those people     4     (be) rather few and most people understand how exciting and interesting travelling is.

As for me. I enjoy watching all-round views from some altitudes. I enjoy watching them in my hometown and as soon as I am in some new city. I start     5     (look) for such places right away. I understand that I’m not alone, that I have so many chances and     10     I can reach all my goals. While watching the views of nature. I wonder how such beauty can be created and how much it is important not to break it.

Carrying the Flame of Inspiration

Excited, proud, and even a little emotional, I experienced a rush of different feelings when I passed the flame of the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou,     1     capital city of Zhejiang province, on Saturday as one of the 600 torchbearers (火炬手).

Although from different backgrounds, we 600 torchbearers all have something in common: Our deep respect for the para sports movement and the spirit in     2     these sports are contested. The flame that I carried was passed on by the first torchbearer of the relay, powerlifting Paralympic and world champion Tan Yujiao. The Rio and Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist is     3     (particular) proud to attend the Asian Para Games at home, both as a torchbearer and an athlete.

“My heart is just like the flame right now. I used to be a kid with     4     (disability) who could not even attend our school’s PE classes, and now I’m a para athlete who is aiming at     5     (break) my own world record. Life presents me with the     6     (tough) tests, and I have lived my life in the most beautiful way,” said Tan.

When I was informed that I     7     (choose) for the honor, I asked myself one simple question: What will I actually pass through the flame? I think my fellow torchbearer Tan summed it     8     better than I could: “What I hope to pass on is the spirit of the para athletes that enables them     9     (fight) against all odds to win and chase excellence. I also want to pass on their positive energy, their     10     (confident) and strength.”

Success means different things for different people. Some may equate it with fame, some with wealth and still some with accomplishments. For me, it means     1     (realize ) one’s dreams. Whatever your dreams are, you have a goal there and then devote     2     (you) to it. Dreams bring you hope and happiness. In the process of struggling for it, you cry, sweat, complain or even curse, but the joy of harvesting     3     (make) you forget all the pains and troubles you have gone through. So an old proverb says that the    4     (sweet) fruit is one that has undergone the bitterest experience.

There are several keys     5     success. First of all, your goal must be    6     (practice). It is well known that if you set your goal    7     (extreme) high, you will not attain it. Next, you have to make     8     detailed plan of doing it. You can take some    9     (step) to realize it. Since the process is quite tough, you need to be diligent, patient and persevering. Faced with some difficulties or frustrations,     10     you may meet with in the process, don’t lose heart. You should repeat over and over that there is nothing you can’t overcome. With this will and determination, success is sure to wait for you at the end of the tunnel!

A middle-aged man took his eighty-year-old father, who used a stick for walking, to the park to take a walk every morning.

One day, while the old man stepped out from the car, his stick fell down, and he lost his balance.
