2 . Today’s workers are suffering from a burnout. The danger of this is that burnout is linked to under performance and feelings of hopelessness. Would you know how to fight burnout?
Find out the cause.
To fight burnout, you may have to get rid of anything that weighs you down. Remember, the less you have on your plate, the better you may feel.
Separate work from home life.
When you stop working at the end of the day, leave your “office hat” in the office. And while we’re talking about balance and relaxation, make sure you schedule real days off from work. No work emails, no work text messages, and no wok phone calls—a day devoted entirely to you, your family and rest.
Set realistic goals.
Maybe you have short-term and long-term goals for your life. Goals are an excellent motivator.
The best solution to burnout is seeking out rich interpersonal communications, and continual personal and professional development. Find coaches and mentors who can help you identify positive relationships and learning opportunities.
Take short breaks during the day.
When you’re working throughout the day, schedule short 10-minute breaks every hour or every hour and a half.

3 . A couple of years ago I graduated from art school. After graduation I was unsure of what to do with my degree. I had majored in illustration (插画专业) and loved it, but didn’t really feel interested in doing illustrations for any companies. This left me with few options other than freelance (自由职业的) jobs and taking care of kids for others.
I spent two years working as a baby-sitter, doing freelance illustrations on the side. It just wasn’t quite enough to pay rent, but I loved it, so I worked well over 50 hours a week, trying to keep up with both.
Just under a year ago I went to a friend’s wedding. I couldn’t think of a gift for them and really didn’t have a lot of money to spare, so I used my talents to create a portrait (肖像) for them. It wasn’t much, but I hoped it would be a good gift. When I handed the portrait to them and they unwrapped it, the looks on their faces were something I did not expect. There were joyful tears in their eyes as they cried, “That’s us! This is so beautiful!”
It’s funny because when I was in art school portraits were always my least favourite assignment. I hated drawing people and was always so much more interested in drawing little furry creatures. Once I saw the looks on my friends’ faces after giving them their portrait, it was all over. I suddenly loved portraits and wanted to do more.
I now take portraits to every wedding I go to and have given them as gifts to the families I baby-sit for. Every time the reaction makes all of the hard work and time I put into them so worth it. I’ve just started offering couple, family and pet portraits as an item on my Etsy shop.

When was your resume (简历) last updated?
I have heard, “Oh, I know I need to do that soon”, more times than I care to say. No one enjoys this task,
Are you networking?
We may all shrink at this since we think of having to meet with 20 strangers.
Are you current with new skills and technology?
The world is changing so fast and you have to stay up to speed with keeping your skills and new technology fresh. Take a class, read a book, and take a new course etc. These investments pay back with enormous profit.

5 . Marei S.B., 25, got her first taste of her dream career this past summer in Colorado, where she interned (实习) at Woodward, Inc., an American designer, manufacturer, and service provider of control system components for aircraft engines for some of the world’s largest aircraft companies. Marei was part of the platform development engineering team at Woodward, helping train the operations and engineering teams on crucial aircraft components.
“This was my very first internship, and I was amazed by the aerospace industry,” she said. “We were always crunched under deadlines, and customers, understandably, requested large work orders. There was always a pressure to perform your best and provide them with the best possible units made at our plant. This taught me a lot about how demanding and fast-paced the industry is, but it also confirmed and reassured me that I really want to work in the aerospace industry.”
The internship required Marei to use both her technical engineering and interpersonal skills. She worked with both the engineering and operations teams at Woodward. “The operations team didn’t necessarily have engineering degrees, so I had to break down technical terms into everyday words that we use,” she said. “It taught me to be specific and precise. Even if I have to repeat things three or four times, that’s totally fine. I’d rather be more repetitive and ensure each step is correct than have to rework the entire process.”
Marei also helped train the teams through product displays and visual work instructions on how to manufacture specific products. That brought its own unique thrill, as the instructions she created could be used long after her internship ended.
Marei is planning to return to Woodward this winter. She’ll have another semester’s worth of engineering knowledge, which will further her into the career she’s always wanted. “I got to apply many of the things I learned at Harvard,” she said. “The internship taught me the technical knowledge I’d need to learn from my courses that could be applied here.”

6 . A pacer is someone who runs in races or marathons to help set the pace for runners. There are different types of pacers. A race pacer usually carries a sign highlighting a specific competition time for a race. He helps runners reach their goals without relying on technology, such as a smart watch or GPS. Professional pacers are used in long-distance races. They run at different sections of the race to inspire runners. A record pacer helps a professional runner set a new record, who often leads the race for a predetermined distance at a predetermined pace.
A runner being paced runs directly following a pacer. Having a pacer can be helpful for a long-distance runner because researches show that it takes more energy to lead in a race all through the race than to follow another runner. The pacer takes on the responsibility of timing and establishing the pace so the runner only has to focus on his own running. Having a pacer as a guide in a long race can take some of the stress and pressure off by keeping an even pace. The pacer may also provide encouragement along the way to work towards the goal.
There are times, though, when running with a pacer can be more stressful than beneficial for a runner — especially for amateur runners. Not having taken professional training, you set a goal to run a particular pace, but then you realize this may not be the best speed for you. In some cases, the pacer is running too quickly for what you can stand. Other times, you could misjudge your abilities and run a slower pace than what your body can bear.
It is important to note that you don’t have to stay with a pacer just because you started with him. If you feel strong at the end and want to finish faster, you can run ahead. Or if he is too fast, you could slow down and maybe even join the slower pace group behind you.

7 . Here are some jobs that let you make a direct impact on others’ lives.
A career advisor
Career advisors help to lighten graduates’ load, often working at high schools, colleges or universities. In addition to consulting with students to help them make career decisions, the advisors also help students practice important job-seeking skills. Although some employers prefer applicants to have a master’s degree in counseling (咨询), not all require one. Pursuing a bachelor of psychology or counseling is a great place to start.
A nutritionist
As far as industries go, health care likely offers the most jobs that help people. Nutritionists work in hospitals, schools or nursing homes to help create meal plans to improve the health of their clients (客户). Along with a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, clinical nutrition or a related field, you’ll need to be licensed in most states.
A personal trainer
Personal trainers work with people of all ages to build custom fitness plans. Along with performing physical assessments and creating training programs, personal trainers also inspire their clients to stick to a plan so they achieve desired results. You should have a college diploma, along with an associate’s degree in a health or fitness field, and you will need to pass an exam to receive your license.
A special education teacher
A special school can be a place for students with emotional, behavioral or learning challenges. Special education teachers are there to teach them to reach their full potential. As a special education teacher, you should plan and teach lessons according to students’ specific needs and abilities. Special education teachers must have a bachelor’s degree and a state-issued certification.
