6 . Last Sunday, the famous Champs-Elysees street in Paris was turned into a giant outdoor classroom for a special spelling event called “The Big Dictation”. The event was a chance for people who love words to show off their listening and spelling skills in an unusual setting.

The Big Dictation of Champs-Elysees was organized by a writer named Rachid Santaki. He came up with the idea of large groups of people taking part in dictations back in 2013. Over 50,000 people asked to join the special spelling event on the Champs-Elysees, which turned one of Paris’s busiest streets into a classroom, with cars replaced by desks. In the end, around 5,000 people, aged 10 to 90, were chosen to take part.

Just like in school, a large “blackboard” was set up for the event near a famous building, the Arc de Triomphe. Several famous people were there to play the part of the teacher, and read the dictation texts out loud. After the dictation is read, the text on the screen lets people check their work.

Not everyone found it easy. Ten-year-old Samson thought the dictation was too quick and he couldn’t finish. Another young student agreed. “It was impossible!” he said. “The dictation was for adults.”

Even adults found it challenging, reporting that it caused stress and worry. One retired woman was pleased that she had only made two mistakes.

Marc-Antoine Jamet is in charge of the Champs-Elysees Committee, who brought the event to the famous street. He said the event wasn’t just about getting all the words right but also about bringing people together.

Another goal of The Big Dictation was to break the record for the largest dictation event ever. The previous record was set in 2018 at France’s national stadium, Stade de France, with 1,473 people taking part. That event was also run by Mr. Santaki.

What to expect

The exhibition explores the story behind football, showing how design has been used to push the game to new limits. Take a journey through over 500 objects, films and interviews in sporting performance, equipment development and stadium design, and involve yourself in the stories of clubs and game legends(传奇人物)including Messi, Pelé, George Best and Diego Maradona.

Held by the Design Museum and the National Football Museum in Manchester, the show reveals the master planning of the world’s most significant football stadiums, the design innovation used in today’s equipment, how the graphic design of team badges(徽章) and posters shapes a club’s identity and how grassroots’ efforts are pushing the sport’s commercialization.

10 . 2021 Summer Camp and Activities Guide

Summer Stars Program

This seven-week summer program is for children aged 18 months to 5 years old. The children take part in activities such as sports, music, art, story time and daily water play. There is a three-day option for toddlers aged 18 to 30 months. The two-year-old ones may choose a three-day option or attend five mornings a week. The three-to-five-year old ones may choose a half-day, 9 am-12 noon option or a fill day option form 9 am to 2 pm.

Beth EI Day Camp

It is the place for children aged 2-8! Have fun with us from June 27 to August 21. We offer before and after camp care from 7 am to 7 pm. Campers love the sports, especially tennis, swimming, music, cooking, dancing, yoga and much more! We have the best-trained local professional staff.

The House of Sports

The weekly sports camp offers programs for children of all ages and ability levels. For younger campers, we offer a multi-sport camp including both learning and playing a variety of sports each day. For children in 3rd grade and older, we also offer specific sports camps in lacrosse, basketball, soccer and baseball. All camps take place in a 100,000 square feet climate controlled facility in Ardsley, and all camps are staffed by professional coaches and instructors.

Summer Play Pace Camp

It offers yourg children a unique seven-week summer experience. The professional certified staff provide art and crafts, water play, stories, games, sports and snacks within a loving environment.
