The Art of Design with Lee Lapthorne — 9 September

Join artist Lee Lapthorne for a private evening when he will show two pieces of furniture inspired by our collections and discuss his process of reinventing pieces of furniture to create something new.

Poetry with Punch — 8 October

Come and meet Matt Windle, the “Poet with Punch” and Birmingham’s Poet Laureate 2016-2018 for a unique workshop, full of tips and advice to help you get your poetry moving. Suitable for beginners, this workshop will get you thinking about taking the next steps to create writing!

Living in a city can be stressful. But people in Bogota, Colombia have found a place to help ease stress and get a    1    (peace) break from busy life. The place is a     2    (protect) park for hummingbirds(蜂鸟).

The park is at the top of Montserrat Hill. The area    3     (contain) a forest which has turned into a quiet place for both people and birds. As the hummingbirds fly from flower to flower, some people take pictures with cameras or phones.

“Sometimes it doesn't seem real because we are close to    4     city with the population of 8 million,    5     create noise every day," said Camino Carter, a caretaker in the park. His job is    6    (mix) water and sugar that is put in bird feeders.

Never ever pay the walk-up ticket price at a theme park.     2    .You're guaranteed to save a significant sum-sometimes as much as $$ 20 per ticket-even for same-day tickets.

●Buy in advance.

    3    .For instance, Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, slices off $$25 per ticket when you make your purchase at least three days ahead.

This one is a universal no-brainer. Single-day ticket prices at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, are about 30 percent less than admission on Saturdays and Sundays. But the big bonus is that lines will be much shorter, allowing you to spend less time waiting in lines and more time having fun.

●Go in the afternoon.

    5    .For example, Hersheypark’s sunset tickets allow entry after 4 pm or 5 pm, depending on the day. You'll still get between four to six hours of fun before the park closes, and you'll pay up to 50 percent less than the full-day ticket price.
