Summer Camp for the Whole Family!
Family Camp, an event at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Virginia, offers the chance for family members to socialize with each other. Participants take three classes a day, one of which is specifically appointed as a family activity. Classes offered include swimming, theatre arts, nature, canoeing, and more. Afternoons and evenings are filled with special activities such as hikes, canoe trips, and campfires.
Family camp offers a variety of activities for all ages. Space is limited to 25 families. Each family has a separate room. To receive registration (登记) information, please call your local Extension Office or Heather Benninghove at Holiday Lake 4-H Center at (434) 248-5444.
If you’re a person with a disability (残疾) and need special services, please call at (434) 248-5444 during business hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM five days before the camp.

And then you remember that your car is parked down the road. What's your safest choice to make sure you and your families are safe?
It's a common question for many hikers and campers, especially when they're camping during summer months. Heading for your car is almost always the safest choice. Your tent and a shelter will keep you dry, but they offer little or no protection against lightning. Your car, on the other hand, will keep you dry and protect you from lightning strikes. Protecting yourself against possible lightning strikes is very important; lightning kills an average of 62 people in the US each year. If you keep all of the windows and doors closed in your car, you'll be able to return to your campsite safely.
Of course, if you're backpacking, not car camping, and if you're deep in the woods, your car won't be a good choice. So, what should you do if your car is far away and there's no other safe shelter nearby? First, you'll have to make sure that tree limbs (大树枝) or other objects don't fall on you or your campsite. I know birthday parties can be like a trouble, but let's believe the parents who sent that invitation weren't trying to get more gifts for their kids or make things more complicated(复杂的) .
For some kids, managing school and friends is easy. Maybe you have a child who's outgoing, selfconfident or maybe you have a child who doesn't have any problems. However, for some kids, school and friends can be very difficult.
A birthday party is a fun, exciting and good opportunity. It is a chance for the kid on the sidelines to play with other kids who don't play with him/her at school or who don't call him/her a friend.
Sometimes even when the birthday party and the theme have been decided on and the difficult decision about whom to invite has been made, there can still be doubts. Those invitations can stay untouched in the bottom of the child's backpack for days, because he/she is too scared to hand them out.
I don't know your child, and I don't know you. I do know there are parents who lie awake at night wondering if their child will have the courage to hand out the invitations in the morning; I do know there are parents who hope they can depend on other parents to teach their children to be kind enough to show up. Maybe you'll never have to be one of the parents who find it hard. I know what that's like, because I have children who find it easy. But I also have a child who doesn't. And because of that, we've become a family that says yes to every invitation we receive.
Sometimes a birthday party invitation is not just a birthday party invitation; it's also an invitation to be a friend.
