Join us in July 2024 for our next undergraduate Open Days. Our next undergraduate Open Days will take place on Thursday 4 July and Friday 5 July 2024.
Cambridge Open Days are aimed at prospective applicants from Year 12 (or equivalent) and mature applicants (aged 21 or over), together with their parents or supporters, to help them learn more about the University.
What to expect
During the Open Days you can find out about our courses, the Colleges and departments, university facilities, the application process, student life, and finance.
You can also ask our current staff and students questions about living and studying at the University of Cambridge.
Both days will have a similar programme, with most events running between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm (UK time).

Many of the College are open to visitors throughout the week, please check with the relevant College before visiting for opening times. If you’d like to meet with a member of admission staff during your visit, please contact one of the Colleges’ admission offices in advance to make an appointment.

Booking information for 2024
Bookings for the 2024 Open Days will open in Spring 2024. You will need to register via the online booking form and once registered you will receive a booking confirmation via email. Please note that each prospective applicant can bring a maximum of one guest with them to the Open Day. 2 . 2024 National Cherry Blossom Festival Student Art Competition
To celebrate the 2024 National Cherry Blossom Festival, National Mall and Memorial Parks is hosting a youth art competition. We need your artistic help to inspire visitors to become Cherry Blossom Protectors! The blooming of the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin has come to symbolize the natural beauty of our nation’s capital city. Thousands of people come every year to see the cherry trees and enjoy the festival.
ParticipantsThe contest is open to all Washington, D.C. students, K-6. One submission per student please.
ThemeArtworks should focus on the theme “Cherry Blossom Protector.” Draw or paint a picture that shows what you appreciate about the cherry blossoms, how we can take care of them, and why we should. Submissions must include the words “Cherry Blossom Protector”.
DeadlineArtworks will be accepted starting December 13, 2023. All submissions must be postmarked by February 25, 2024.
Submission requirementsA valid submission will contain the following information:
1. An original copy of the artwork. Each piece must be original, authentic (真实的), unpublished, the sole property of the entrant (参赛者), and not previously submitted in any other contest.
2. Your personal information, printed on either the back of your artwork or on a separate sheet attached to your physical artwork or provided with the e-mail for your digital entry: First and last name, grade/age.
3. A completed and signed entry form. Print out the entry form and send it to us when you send your artwork. Entries cannot be accepted without a signed entry form by a parent or guardian.

4 . School uniforms are traditional in Britain. Pupils at about 90 percent of British secondary schools wear uniforms. When every pupil in the school wears the uniform, nobody has to worry about fashion and they feel that they belong to a group. Some people believe that a school uniform can help students pay attention to schoolwork. But some schools in Britain and other countries are starting to drop the traditional uniforms.
An Australian school has decided to drop its traditional school uniform, hoping new sportswear will encourage students to take part in more activities. School headmaster Elisabeth Lenders said the uniform change had been in the works for several years. “We decided that in 2018-2019,” she said. “The importance is clear: to make young people live happy, healthy lives.”
Ms. Lenders said World Health Organization research reported 90 percent of young Australians and New Zealanders were not getting the minimum daily levels of activity they needed in order to lead a healthy life.
As well as the new uniform, she said the school would change timetables to make sure there would be chances for students to take part in physical activity every day.
Ms. Lenders said in the past, a uniform was about all looking the same but in the 21st century it was important for students to be able to choose clothes that they liked.
And this Australian school had made an online survey about the uniform change and had received great support from parents and students. Tara, mother of Ava in Year 7, said it was a great move from the school. “These are the challenges of our time, and we want young people to think about them,” she said. “It is bigger than just throwing out the old uniform. It’s about what the role of education is about. And for me, it’s helping young people to live a happy, healthy and productive life.”

5 . Interschool Sports Programme is coming. It will start on 30th April and end on 15th June.
Students in our school will join the boys’ basketball games. Each Wednesday the players will travel by bus to Sports Centre, Erinvale Street, Corinda. They will leave school at 12: 20 p.m. It will take them about 20 minutes to get there. The games will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Players must wear their school clothes and sports shoes. It will be great if they can bring large water bottles.
If you are good at playing basketball and want to join the games, please go to Mr. David’s office (Room503) before 15th April to fill in form. We will choose 15 players.
Volunteers are also needed. Anyone who wants to be a volunteer needs to send an email to Mr David (davidss@qq.edu.au) to introduce yourself before 20th April.

It’s time to leave school. To show how much they will miss the school, the students in Class 6, Grade 9 are excited to plan a graduation party in the dining hall. The students are going to make party posters, prepare food and drinks, think of games to play and prepare things they need for the games. They are also planning to invite their teachers and headmaster to the party.

7 . Hello, boys and girls! I’m Helen. The Student Art Festival starts in our middle school. Today is December 13th. There is a photo show. Students take many photos. All of them are great. I love one of the photos a lot. It’s a photo of a big family. It’s named “Happy Birthday, Grandpa!” I think this student must have a happy family, just like me.

9 . Top Summer Math Programs for High School Students
Canada/USA Mathcamp
This summer program offers gifted high school students the chance to “live and breathe” mathematics. Throughout the program, students explore undergraduate- and graduate-level mathematical topics. They design their own curriculum by choosing their own classes and learn from professional mathematicians in the process. Mathcampers also get the opportunity to go hiking, whitewater rafting(漂流), rock climbing and much more.
Cost: $4,500 (Financial aid is available, and the program is free for families with household incomes under $65,000)

Ross Mathematics Program
The program focuses on one central mathematical concept—number theory. Participants spend the entire summer solving problem sets related to integers(整数)and their properties. This process provides a great foundation for students interested in conducting mathematical research in the future.

Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS)
For over three decades, PROMYS has been a place of mathematical exploration for talented high school students. Students in this program attend seminars on advanced mathematical topics. They also get the chance to participate in research projects under the guidance of professional mathematicians.
Cost: $5,500 (Financial aid is available, and the program is free for US families with household incomes under $ 60,000)
Location: Boston University
Stanford University Math Camp (SUMaC)
Students in this program choose between two courses—algebraic topology(代数拓扑学)and abstract algebra &. number theory. Both to picsare major areas of modern mathematical research. In both courses, students engage in daily problem sets, work with Stanford graduate students and attend lectures from mathematicians.
