My name is Han Jing. Today is my first day       1    senior high school. I’ll tell you my first       2    (impress) of the new school.

When I first entered the senior high school schoolyard, I was anxious     3    everything. My first class was maths.       4    was difficult to learn but my classmates and teachers were       5    (friend) and helpful. The       6    (chemist) class in the science lab was great and I was very interested. I miss my friends from junior high school. I’m not sure       7    well I will do in school this year,       8    I don’t feel nervous or     9     (frighten) any more. Now, I feel more         10     (confidence) and believe my future school life will be wonderful.

Last week our class voted on what     1     (do) for our class outing: visit the Singapore Zoo     2     go on the Night Safari (夜间动物园). We     3     (girl) wanted to go to the zoo, but since we were in the minority, we lost to the boys,     4     all wanted the safari. We got the     5     (admit) rate for students,which was great since I still     6     (have) enough money to buy a brochure about the park as     7     as something at the souvenir shops. The safari was scary but     8     (real) fun. As we took the ride through the park’s dark jungle, we could see the eyes of many creatures     9     (look) out at us. Most of the animals there sleep when there     10     (be) sunlight and wake up at night.

Last weekend our school held a sports meeting.     1    (realize) it was our last high school sports meeting, we decided to make     2     an unforgettable experience for all of us.

We first attended the opening parade, for     3    our class had made a lot of     4    (prepare).     5     our excitement, our parade performance was a great success. After the parade, the games started. My classmates attended various events such as running, high jump and long jump. Due to the hard training they     6    (do) before, their performances were very     7    (impress). On the stand, my classmates applauded and cheered for the athletes, some raising their cameras to capture the exciting moments. Finally, the result     8    ( announce). It was amazing that our class won the second place. Our efforts paid off! Cup in hand, we took     9     picture together.

I believe this sports meeting will remain a precious memory for all of us    10    time goes by.

I can well remember that I was once asked to deliver a speech titled “A Real Test in My Life” before the whole class at the age of 9! You can imagine how    1    (terrible) shy I was with so many eyes fixed on me. I had no choice but    2    (prepare) for it, though. First of all, I was to draft the speech,     3     was just a piece of cake for me, a good writer. But the hardest part    4    (lie) in my oral presentation from my memory—for to read from the paper    5    (forbid). The real moment began when I stood on the platform with my legs    6    (tremble) and my mind blank. But my listeners were waiting patiently without any signs of rushing me. Gradually I found     7     (I) back, delivering my speech without difficulty. After    8    seemed to be a hundred years, I found my audience applauding—I made it! From then on, my fear of talking before the audience disappeared. Actually with my confidence built up, I now turn out to be    9     big success in speech. Looking back    10    the past, I know the greatest difficulty on our way to success is our fear. Overcome it and we will be able to achieve our goals.
