1 . Since the age of four, Jacquelyn Hill had dreamed of becoming a dancer. However, a car accident put the high school senior in the hospital for 5 days and left her paralyzed from the waist down and ________ to sitting in the wheelchair the whole life. For most people, that would have ________ any hope of a dancing career. For Hill, it was the beginning. ________ being a barrier, her wheelchair brought her bravery and encouraged her to think a lot of her life and she wanted to prove that she was still ________. Actually, Hill made it, rolling her wheelchair right alongside her non-disabled high school dance team. “It feels as if half of my body were ________ from me, and I have to move it with my hands,” Hill said. “ It ________ took a lot of learning and ________.”

After graduation, she wanted to expand her dancing network to include women like her. She began to ________ people online who had suffered similar injuries and shared her determination. Then in 2014, Hill moved to Los Angeles and formed a team of dancers with disabilities she calls the Rollettes. “I want to ________ the false belief of wheelchair users and show dance is dance, whether you’re walking or you’re ________.”

Dancing on wheels can be just as fast-paced, artful and ________ as the foot-based variety. In disabled dance competitions around the country, her team danced to the popular ________, rocking their ________ bodies, shaking their heads to the special beats, and ________ their wheelchairs in well-timed, dynamic, highly designed routines. The cheers, whistles and applause of the audience suggested that the fun was ________.

2 . For a long time Gabriel didn’t want to be involved in music at all. In his first years of high school, Gabriel would look pityingly at the music students, _________ across the campus with their heavy instrument cases, _________ at school for practice hours before anyone else had to be there. He swore to himself to _________ music, as he hated getting to school extra early.

However, one day, in the music class that was part of his school’s standard curriculum, he was playing idly (随意地) on the piano and found it _________ to pick out tunes. With a sinking feeling, he realized that he actually enjoyed doing it. He tried to hide his _________ pleasure from the music teacher, who had wandered over to listen. She told Gabriel that he had a good ear and suggested that Gabriel go into the music store-room to see if any of the instruments there _________ him. 6 . When I asked my mom for piano lessons in 2010, we were in the fallout of the recession (经济衰退). She said a polite “No”．

I would click notes on an online ________ and “play” them back on my paper one — keeping the ________ they made on the computer in my head. Once my mom saw that I was ________, she borrowed money and bought me 10 lessons.

When I left Purcell, I was awarded the senior academic music prize. I am now at the Guildhall School of Drama & Music in London, one of the world’s leading music schools. I feel proud: it's been more than 10 years ________ I drew my paper keyboard. I continue to do a lot of my practice away from the piano, which we call ________ practice. The paper keyboard helped solve my ________ about how music works and what forms the masterpieces.

8 . Teije Isungset is a Norwegian composer and performer. Recently he has become a _________ in the world of music. He performs with instruments he makes himself out of _________.

A recent performance at London’s Royal Festival Hall featured a set including ice horns, ice drums and ice chimes, _________ singer Maria Skranes.

9 . Inspiration

“Mama, when I grow up, I’m going to be one of those!” I said this after seeing the Capital Dancing Company perform when I was three. It was the first time that my _______ took on a vivid form and acted as something important to start my training. As I grew older and was exposed to more, my interests in the world of dance _______ varied but that little girl’s dream of someday becoming a dancer in the company never left me. In the summer of 2005 when I was 18, I received the phone call which made that dream a reality: I became a member of the company dating back to 1925.

As I look back on that day now, it surely _______ any sense of reality. I believe I stayed in a state of pleasant disbelief _______ I was halfway through rehearsals (排练) on my first day. I never actually _______ to get the job. After being offered the position, I was completely _______. I remember shaking with excitement.

Though I was absolutely thrilled with the change, it did not come without its fair share of challenges. Through the strict rehearsal period of dancing six days a week, I found it vital to _______ up the material fast with every last bit of concentration. It is that extreme attention to detail and stress on practice that set us apart. To then follow those high-energy rehearsals with a busy show schedule of up to five performances a day, I discovered a new meaning of the words “hard work”.
