On the reality show Rap for Youth, Chen Jinnan, a talented rapper (说唱歌手), sang her song Malice from the world. Her p    1     was successful.

Chen began listening to hip-hop when she was 13. A year later, she started to add much     2     (素材) about her life into songs that she created, describing this experience as “like writing a diary”. Chen wrote the song Malice from the world after receiving a message from a fan who was       3    (受苦) from some dark thoughts and n    4     feelings. To help the fan and other young adults, Chen published the song online last year.

Now, she has nearly 60,000 followers on her Sina Weibo a    5     (账户). Many fans view her as a girl who always looks on the bright side. However, not everyone likes her. It’s a nice song    2    beginners to learn due to its simple lyrics. The melody of this song has become well-known among Western listeners for several reasons. One is that it    3    (sing) by Giacomo Puccini in his opera called Turandot in 1926. It was also used in the Olympics opening ceremony in China.

4 . Music

Everyone has the inborn ability to understand and enjoy music. Since the beginning, humans     1    (express) themselves through music.

I recently had a chance to experience conversation through music. In 2008, I    2     (travel) to Manila, Philippines to participate in a high school jazz exchange     3     many students from all over Asia came together to share their talents. Everyone was mixed into different small groups to prepare for a concert at the end of week. Although     4     people spoke fluent English, everyone seemed to understand each other simply through the music and there were few times where direct translation     5    (need). At the performance, every group played for a live audience. During my group’s performance, I was able to improvise(合奏) with a Korean boy     6     spoke very little English. But we managed to have a conversation through our instruments. It was     7     great experience.
