The Seattle Marathon Association (SMA) is a non-profit organization proud of providing a quality running event in the Pacific Northwest. Join us for our annual family-friendly run at Seward Park with views of Lake Washington and Mount Rainier. Dogs welcome! Choose your distance: 5k, 10k or Half Marathon! Kids are welcome to participate in the Kids Fun Run, a quick 1k run with specially provided snacks waiting at the end.

●Top 3 overall men & women participants in the 5k (must come in under 25min), 10k (must come in under 45min) and Half Marathon (must come in under 1hr 30min) races will receive cash prizes at the finish line.

●In addition, in the week following the race, non-cash awards will be emailed to the top three runners in each age division. Age divisions are as follows: 14 and under,15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89 and 90+.

4 . One thing that sets cycling apart from most other sports at the Olympics is technology. With the exception of a few other sports, such as sailing and rowing, most events that take place at the Summer Games usually just come down to the performances of the athletes. They try to swim and run faster, jump and climb higher, lift and hit with more strength.

In cycling, the competition is so close-often a hundredth of a second separates riders-that the difference in winning and losing can be found in the chain, the wheels, and even the helmet that they choose to wear. That is why the US team made headlines at Rio 2016 Olympics Games, when it rolled out a new bike design that moved the entire drive chain from the right side to the left. It might not catch the attention of the average bicyclists, who probably don’t even notice which side the drive chain is on their own bikes. But it caused plenty of outcry from the Olympic Committee, since Olympic rules state that any bike used in competition must be made available to the public. But the American bike-maker Felt Bicycles only sold the new bikes to the American team. The price? $25,999 per bike.

Then the British adopted a more tactful(圆滑的)strategy. It teamed up with bike maker Hope Technology to create something extremely expensive for the Tokyo Olympics Games this year. The frame alone sells for about $23,500. Another $12,000 for the wheels. Throwing in the expensive suits, oil for chains, and sunglasses and shoes, the investment needed to compete for a cycling medal can be almost unaffordable for most of the athletes.

Ice Hockey

Ice hockey is not just one of the most popular winter Olympic sports but has also recently become a common international sport. Ice hockey is fast passed and full of energy that also involved numerous intricate (复杂精细的) tricks and movements. It doesn’t only have a competitive side, it also is super fun!

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is another really fun snow sport that is definitely worth trying this winter. It’s not the same as skiing, the main difference between snowboarding and skiing is that snowboarding does not use poles and most people use softer boots for flexibility. Snowboarding has only recently been added to the winter Olympics. There are hundreds of different resorts around the world that allow you to experience this popular sport.

My hopes faded as the season began. A Seattle Mariners hat remained firmly planted on his head. Matching Red Sox T-shirts earned a veto.

As newlywed disagreements go, this one wasn’t horrible. Plenty of couples flourish with dueling team loyalties. But a worry nagged: If he couldn’t root for the Red Sox, would he ever truly make Boston home?

As a student, when the magic in the air that season permeated (传播) the girls’ boarding school I attended outside Boston, we begged our house directors to let us stay up past curfew to watch the games on TV, and when they at first refused, we listened on radios in our rooms and gleefully burst into the halls to cheer.

So when my husband said he’d never be a Red Sox fan, my heart clenched. But one delightful spring day our teeny apartment came to my rescue. As we sat at our dining room table, we heard a roar swell to a crescendo. This was the first indication that we could hear the stadium crowds from our home.
