The “hottest” tourist city this winter in China is undoubtedly the picturesque ice city Harbin in Northeast China,     1     has become an Internet sensation (轰动).

Recently, a group of children from Nanning, Guangxi,     2     (wear) orange down jackets and blue pants, launched a unique study tour in Harbin. They were referred to     3     the “little tangerines (橘子)”, with the youngest only 3 years and 5 months old. The nickname stood for both their cute orange outfits and Guangxi’s well-known production. The use of orange coats     4     (choose) by a vote among the parents was primarily for safety reasons.

In Harbin, they enjoyed the local delicacies     7     watched a firework display amid the snowy landscape. At the northernmost police outpost of China, they sang the national anthem and showed respect for the border guards, marking     8     important part of their educational trip. 7 . A pair of best friends are proving that adventure doesn’t have an age limit — even when you’re 81. Ellie Hamby and Sandy Hazelip are planning to see all seven continents in just over two and a half months.

Their first stop was Antarctica (南极洲). Getting to the southernmost continent first need crossing the Drake Passage, the famously rough waters. “For almost two days, we were rocking and rolling through the Drake Passage. It was just crazy,” Hamby said. “But when we stepped foot on the ground of the Antarctic, we forgot all that difficulties. The beauty of the Antarctic is just unbelievable.”

Over the past three months, the pair have ridden camels in Egypt, and observed the Northern Lights in Finland. For Hamby, the best part of the trip was not the beauty along the way. “We love all the sights that we saw, but the things that we remember the most are the people that we met,” she said. “We met some of the most wonderful, kindest, friendliest people in the world. We just have friends now all over the world.”

When it came to how their families felt about their journey, Hamby said her daughter Louise was not too concerned. “She just says, ‘Well, if Mom falls out of a hot air balloon in Egypt or off the mountain…That’s fine. She is living the life she wanted, and I am happy for her,’” Hamby said.

Hazelip hopes their story can inspire people of all ages. “Don’t sit in that chair and waste away,” Hazelip said. “The world is a book and he who does not travel only reads one page. So get up out of that easy chair, step out of your comfort zone, make some plans and live. Remember that age is only a number.”

A series of short hikes allows for different views of the waterfall and icy surrounds, which are also known for frequent brown bear sightings.

Yosemite National Park is one of the oldest national parks in America and home to the fifth tallest waterfall in the world. Hikers can reach it by taking a 1-mile trail from the lodge or the 7.2-mile round-trip Yosemite Falls Trail route. Late spring is best, with the highest water flow. In the winter, the temperatures dip below freezing. A park admission fee applies.

The River Thames might inspire images of muddy, polluted waters snaking through the capital that you wouldn’t even think of dipping your toe into, let alone your head. But the famous waterway has more scenic settings along its route before it reaches the BigSmoke. Within easy reach of London, this section is unspoilt and a lot cleaner.

This beautiful, part natural, part man-made tidal swimming pool is set in scenic natural surroundings. Constructed in 1930, it has provided safe bathing in Bude for almost 90 years. The pool is filled up by the sea at high tide each day. But be careful when entering as it’s part natural, it’s hard to give an exact depth, particularly as the environment changes with the tide.

This lake is surrounded by impressive views. You might have to stay away from a few windsurfers, but popularity brings great facilities. You can hire wet suits and warmup afterwards at the shoreline café. It also has Scotland’s only award-winning freshwater beach, so you can sunbathe between dips too.

Voted the best beach in Wales and third in the UK, this is a must-swim. This impressive stretch of Celtic coastline, shaped like a giant sea snake, offers three miles of breathtaking views. It’s also a wildlife shelter, with a variety of cliff-nesting birds. Tides can be violent though, so if the sea looks rough, don’t swim.
