5 . There are around 100 tribes(部落)that live in global isolation, mostly in South America and India. The Sentinelese have lived on one of the Andaman Islands in Eastern India for 60, 000 years. They protect their island by fighting against people from outside. Their language is different from any other known language. Another Andaman tribe is the Jarawa. In the past, they were independent and fought against anybody trying to make contact with them. But in 1998, the Indian government built a road across their land, and since then, they’ve had more contact with the outside world.

Some Amazon tribes avoid contact because of unhappy memories. The Mashco-Piro left their vegetable gardens after rubber companies killed most of their tribe at the beginning of the 20th century. Those who survived became nomadic(游牧的)and started hunting animals in the forest.

The Awa live in the Amazon forests ofBrazil. Out of 350 members, 100 have no contact with the outside world. They left their villages and adopted a nomadic lifestyle around 1850 to escape attacks by Europeans. In the following years, farmers in nearby communities started cutting the trees to expand their farmland. The Awa lost most of their hunting land. The few Amazon tribes that still exist are fighting to keep their traditional way of life.

Survival, an organization that fights for the rights of tribal people, says that uncontacted tribes are the most vulnerable(弱势的)humans on the planet and that’s why their environment should be unavailable to the rest of us. After years of pressure, the organization got Brazil’s government to clear non-natives from the Awa land. All non-Awa people are leaving so the tribe can get their forest back.

But some think it's impossible for tribes to stay isolated forever in a connected world. Contact will be made one day. So the question is：Whose choice should it be, ours or theirs?

However, if you're willing to leave your country and explore life in other areas, there are many countries boasting an extremely cheap and low cost of living. Ecuador

Ecuador is similar to the United States in many ways, and as a result has become a popular American getaway. They even use the U.S. Dollar for their currency. In this country, it's cheaper to eat out every day than cook for yourself on a budget in the U.S. You can even buy a property for around $50,000 and hire someone to tend to it while you're away.

Mexico

Although the country is known for its poverty-ridden streets, there are many wealthier areas that provide every facility you might need. You can live off a mere $700 to $800 a month in Mexico, and this includes rent for a nice place, facilities, food, and any sightseeing.

Argentina

Argentina has been a popular tourist destination for many years. It has great restaurants, a rich history, and many places to explore. Not to mention, it's not very expensive to live here. A decent sized home can cost around $139,000, which is relatively cheap in relation to homes in the United States.

Vietnam

Vietnam has also become a popular tourist destination in recent years. There are many million-dollar luxury homes by the beach, but you can find a modest flat or small home for around $25,000 to $50,000 if you search in the right areas.

A charity has released     1     series of Christmas cards with a difference. The non-profit organization Doctors of the World is selling different cards showing     2     （tradition）Christmas scenes from the Holy Land（the parts of the Middle East mentioned in the Bible）. There are many great destinations in the UK, one of     1    is the South-West of England. The most popular regions surrounding the South-West     2    (be) the counties of Devon and Cornwall. They are by the coast and known for having some of     3    sunniest weather in the UK.

In the heart of the South-West, Dartmoor National Park was voted the UK’s favourite in 2016. There are plenty of breathtaking     4    (walk) to choose from which will lead you    5     (discover) Dartmoor's ancient and rugged (崎岖的) charm!

In the South-West you will find plenty of attractive and often    6    (desert) beaches. Some examples include Whitesand Bay in Cornwall and Woolacombe beach in Devon. If you don’t mind the     7    (slight) cooler temperatures than other beach destinations in Europe, you are in for a real treat!

Going to a British high school for one year     1     a very enjoyable and exciting experience for me.

On the first day all of the new students attended an assembly. I sat next to a girl     2     name was Diane. We soon became best friends. During the assembly, the headmaster told us about the rules of the school. He also told us that the best way to earn respect from the school was to devote ourselves to     3    (study) hard and achieve high     4    (grade). This sounded like my school in China.

My English improved a lot,     5     I used English every day and spent an hour each day    6    (read) English books in the library. I     7    (usual) went to the Computer Club during the lunch break,     8     I could send e-mails to my family and friends back home for free.
