A China Eastern Airlines jetliner carrying 132 people crashed in the mountains in southern China’s Guangxi region on Monday afternoon, according to the country’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC).

The Boeing 737     1    (fly) from the southwestern city of Kunming to Guangzhou when it lost contact over the city of Wuzhou. On board     2    (be) 123 passengers and nine crew members, CAAC said in a statement     3    (post) online. China Eastern Airlines confirmed those details and said it had activated emergency procedures, including a line for emergency assistance for family     4    (member). Rescue efforts are underway at the scene of the crash, but there were no immediate details on the possible cause or the number of casualties (伤亡者). China Eastern offered its condolences (哀悼) to those     5    were killed in the incident, without confirming any death toll (伤亡人数). “The cause of the plane crash is still     6    investigation. The company expresses its     7    (sorrow) condolences to the passengers and crew members who died in this plane crash,” the airline said in a     8    (state). Chinese President Xi Jinping instructed the country’s emergency services to “organize a search and rescue” operation and “identify the causes of the accident,” state media reported.

A 30-year-old man was finally rescued from the Alaskan wilderness after his cabin burned down,     1     (leave) him trapped in the snow for almost three weeks.

Tyson Steele had been living alone     2     several months in a small house in Skwentna, a town     3     (locate) 70 miles northwest of Anchorage. When his family and friends hadn’t heard from Steele for several     10     (week), they requested a welfare check from Alaska State Troopers. As a helicopter flew over the area, they caught sight of Steele waving his arms in the air next to a massive “SOS” sign that he had stamped into the snow.
