Davyon Johnson, an 11-year-old boy, was honored by his community after saving two lives in one day. On Dec. 9, a choking student tripped into the classroom     1     Davyon was. A man who was missing for 17 days after an earthquake in China’s Sichuan Province has been found alive, according to local media reports.

The 28-year-old hydropower station employee Gan Yu had stayed behind with his colleague Luo Yong after an earthquake hit Sichuan on Sept. 5,     1     killed 93 people and injured     2     (hundred).

Gan did first aid for his colleague and helped prevent flooding by releasing water from the dam (大坝). Both Gan and Luo then stayed in the station for over a day without food or mobile signal. They attempted     3     (leave)on Sept. 7, walking more than 12 miles. But Gan, who is short- sighted, lost his glasses and had much     4     (difficult)walking through the mountains. The pair     5     (eventual)decided to split up(分开), with Gan     6     (stay)there waiting for help and Luo going off to find assistance. Rescuers found Luo 3 days later,     7     to their disappointment, when they returned to the place where he had left Gan, he was no longer there.

However, Gan was discovered by     8     local farmer, who heard Gan’s faint cries and     9     (spot)him lying injured under some trees. He     10     (fly)to a nearby hospital and doctors determined that he had several bone wounds.
