1 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

A fifteen-year-old boy named Justin Foster went missing three days ago in Dover, New Hampshire. On Friday night, Justin went to play football with two friends, who both say Justin went home after the game. And Justin’s sister, Kelly says she heard her brother return home at about 11 p.m.

“I was getting ready for bed,” Kelly said. “Justin went straight to his room. I didn’t see him, but I heard him put on his favorite CD. I went to bed, and was woken up around midnight by a bright light outside my window.”

At first, the young girl thought it was the light of the full moon, but then she realized that it was moving and coming closer.

“I pulled back the curtains and saw a large spaceship flying outside. It had blue lights all around it, and there were many windows. Standing inside were lots of strange creatures with white skin and large black eyes. I was frightened! There was a flash of light and I heard Justin shout, and then the UFO just disappeared. I haven’t seen Justin since. I’m sure the aliens took him.”

Some people in Dover also say that they saw aliens that night. “It’s happened to me!” said Mrs. Mavis Wood. “The aliens took me aboard the UFO so that they could do research on me. Luckily, they returned me home without any injuries. The whole experience was terrible! I think Justin was taken away by them, too.”

When asked about the possibility that Justin was taken by aliens, Detective Sam Peterson, who has taken charge of the case, told journalists, “We will not give up until we find out what happened.”

2 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Mr. Taylor checked again: water, food, bandage, medicines, a compass, and a map wrapped in plastic... Bingo! He put all that he prepared for the coming hiking into his backpack.

Mr. Taylor was fond of hiking, this time in particular, for it was the first time for him to hike with his two sons, Harry and Joel. Joel liked reading books about explorers and Harry joined the hiking club in his school this term. “It will be an unforgettable experience, definitely.” he whispered to himself, unconsciously a smile spreading over his face.

Harry and Joel, however, argued for the first three miles of their hiking trip. Harry accused Joel of wearing smelly old shoes. Joel blamed Harry for using all of the bug spray (喷雾防虫剂). Harry told Joel he smelled terrible. Joel called Harry a coward (懦夫).

“Will the two of you just quiet down and enjoy our hike together?” their father said. “You’re missing all of the beautiful scenery!”

It was true. Neither Joel nor Harry had taken notice of the bear their father had spied at the start of their trip. They hadn’t looked up at the eagle he pointed out overhead. Worst of all, they hadn’t paid any attention to the turns and twists along the way while they continued their argument.

“Joel threw a stick at me!” Harry screamed. “That’s not true!” Joel shouted back.

Mr. Taylor could no longer contain his anger. “And both of you need to stop arguing!” he erupted. As he turned to face them, his left foot caught on a root. He slipped backward and down muddy bank, falling into the river that ran alongside the path.

Harry and Joel raced to their father’s assistance. They helped him up out of the water, and then dragged his wet backpack up onto land.

Fortunately, their wet-through father found himself just slightly injured.

3 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

After study for hours, I went outside and up to the roof nearby for a break and watched people cwimming in the sea. It was a sunny day—a blue, cloudless sky over a calm sea. But then, as I looked in the distance. I discovered a series of three or four big waves heading towards the shore. I’d seen these mini-tsunamis (小型海啸)many times before. They were heading at speed in the direction of the swimming area. Most people knew to look out for them, but from the screams that started coming from the beach, I could tell someone was in trouble.

Without thinking, I ran down into the street, holding my bodvboard (冲浪板)on the way and shouted at a stranger to call the coastguard(海岸警卫).My neighbor Tom had heard the screaming as well and was also outside with his bodyboard, so togetlier we rushed to the steps that led down to the sea.

Once we got closer, we discovered the waves had pulled a boy and a girl into the open sea. I knew that the nearest boat would take at least 30 minutes to reach us. I wasn’t used to this sort of emergency—I’d never been trained as a lifeguard—but I didn’t think twice about trying to save them. I suppose in a way I wanted to impress everyone; at 19, a deal like that can seem like a good opportunity to show off.

Tom and I dived into the water and it took us 10 minutes to get to them. When we finally reached them, they were almost lifeless with only their heads coming in and out of the water. We could tell they were still alive from their small breaths but it was clear they wouldn't have been able to stay there much longer. I held the boy and pulled him over my board. Tom then moved the girl onto his board.

Paragraph 1:
We discussed pushing them back to the shore, but we were too far out.
