Ben loved games. He liked word games, mind games and card games. What he like best was winning them. To Ben, winning (胜利) is everything.
At school, students had a running race. Ben was on the blue team. When the race started, Ben pumped (摆动) his legs and arms, and he ran fast. His legs started to burn. His chest stared to hurt. But Ben didn’t slow down. He had to win.
Suddenly, Ben couldn’t move his left foot. He fell down and his face hit the dirt. Other boys ran past him, but one boy stopped. A hand reached down.
“Come on, let’s finish together,” said a voice. Ben looked up. It was a boy from his class. He was on the red team, but he helped Ben stand up anyway. Together they finished the race. “Why did you help me?” he asked the boy, “You could pass me and win the race for the red team.”
