“Hello, Mr Duck!”

“I don’t want other animals to hear it. Please come here.” says the tiger.

The poor duck gets out of the water     10     runs to the tiger. The tiger eats him up.

One day, a red ant was walking by the river. He was thinking about how he wished he had more friends. Unluckily, he slipped(滑倒) and fell into the river!

He was very afraid because he could not swim. A bird was lying over the river and saw the ant. He dropped a leaf into the river to help the ant. The ant climbed on the leaf. A little bit later, the ant and his leaf finally made it to the bank of the river. He thanked the bird again and again.

Later, the ant saw a strange man with a net in his hands. The man was looking up at the bird. “What is that man going to do?” thought the ant, Soon the ant knew that the man wanted to catch the bird!

The ant ran over to the man and bit the man on his leg. The man hopped around on one foot, and the bird saw him and flew higher. “Thank you. You are a good friend!” The ant was happy.

Little Duck’s shadow

Little Duck is watching the sun go down. It is getting lower and lower, but his shadow is getting longer and longer.

“Why is that?” Little Duck asks his friend Old Tree. “You are older and smarter than me. Tell me --why is my shadow longer when the sun gets lower?” Old Tree says, “That’s easy, Little Duck. The sun goes down every day, and we grow older every day. Your shadow grows longer because you are growing taller. You are becoming a big beautiful bird!”

Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the countryside, the other mouse lived in the city.

After many years the Countryside mouse saw the City Mouse. He said, “Do come and see me at my house in the countryside.” So the City Mouse went. The City Mouse said, “This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone(石头). You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city.”

Then the Countryside Mouse went to the house of the City Mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat, they heard (听见) a great noise. The City Mouse cried, “Run! Run! The cat is coming!” They ran away quickly and hid.

After some time they came out. When they came out, the Countryside Mouse said, “I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nice to be poor (贫穷的) and happy, than to be rich and afraid.”

A small flower and a big tree are standing beside the river. “Can I become your friend?” The flower asks. The tree answers, “Friend? I am taller and stronger than you. I don’t want you to be my friend!” The flower feels very sad.

Spring is coming. The flower is becoming more and more beautiful. Many butterflies(蝴蝶) come here and play with the flower. The big tree says, “Why do you play with her but not me? I am taller and stronger than her. ” The butterflies say, “The flower is thinner and shorter than you, but she is more beautiful and more friendly than you. ” The tree realizes his own mistake(认识到自己的错误) and says sorry to the flower. They are playing together now.

Adding Eyes to a Dragon

Mr Zhang is a good painter. One day he draws a beautiful dragon. But the dragon has no eyes. Mr Zhou looks at the picture and says, “The dragon has no eyes. It isn’t a good picture.” But Mr Zhang says, “If I add(添加) eyes to the dragon, it will fly away.” Mr Zhou shakes head and says, “Don’t boast(自夸). I don’t believe you.” Mr Zhang isn’t angry with that. He adds eyes to the dragon. Wow! The dragon really flies away.

It was Sunday. Amy read an interesting book named The Emperor’s (国王的) New Clothes. The famous writer Andersen wrote it. Long long ago, there was an emperor. He liked new clothes. One day, two men made new clothes for him. The emperor was very happy. The two men said, “Please try these new clothes. Only clever people can see them.” The emperor couldn’t see the clothes? but he dared not (不敢) to say. So he pretended (假装) to put on some of the clothes. The emperor walked in the street. Because people wanted to flatter (奉承) the emperor, they all said, “What beautiful clothes!” But a boy said, “The emperor isn’t wearing clothes!”
