文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了“心流状态”这一心理活动现象,指的是你没有走神,完全专注于这个活动,以至于你甚至没有意识到你自己。介绍了“心流状态”发生的条件以及缺点。

Have you ever spent half an hour searching the Internet which, as you find out afterwards, lasted three hours, or opened a book shortly after breakfast and a little while later noticed that the room was getting darker?

Most people can remember experiencing such a state. Your mind wasn't wandering; you were totally focused and concentrated on that activity, to such an extent that you were not even aware of yourself. Psychologists call these fully absorbing experiences flow states, which were discovered and named by a world-famous psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. His celebrated book Flow: The Psychology of Happiness became an instant best-seller, making its way to the top self-help classics.

The state of flow happens under very specific conditions-when we encounter a challenge that is testing for our skills, and yet our skills and capacities are such that it is just about possible to meet this challenge. So both the challenge and the skills are at high levels, stretching us almost to the limit. If challenges exceed skills, one can become anxious. If skills exceed challenges, we usually become bored. Neither of these two cases result in flow.

What is also interesting in flow is the almost total absence of emotions during the actual process. One seems to be almost beyond experiencing emotions, most likely because the awareness of self is not present. Mihaly himself is also very much aware of the potential negative impact of the flow. One philosopher once describes his own experience of flow: “When I get totally involved in the conversation, I am not aware of myself, the world around or the passage of time. Sometimes, I may become addictive to that existence, unwilling to cope with other daily routines of life, like forgetting dinner, and saying goodbye to my children.”

4. What is the purpose of Paragraph 1?
A.To offer a general background of the topic.B.To make an overall outline for the passage.
C.To introduce the topic of the passage.D.To clarify the definition of the topic.
5. In which of the following experience can we enter "flow state"?
A.Adopting a dog.B.Watching TV.
C.Playing the chess.D.Arguing with others.
6. What can we infer from the third paragraph?
A.The state of flow is little conditional.B.Genius at normal schools often gets bored.
C.Challenges at high levels push us to the limit.D.Skills play the most important part in flow.
7. Why does the writer quote the philosopher's words?
A.To show the drawbacks of the flow.B.To stress the value of self-awareness.
C.To underline the absence of emotions.D.To indicate the difficulty of enjoying the flow.

文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。本文主要介绍了PaRx,这一健康方案的目的及实施中遇到的问题。

A walk in the park may be just what the doctor ordered. A new program launched last month in Canada gives some doctors the option of providing patients with a free annual pass to the country's national parks as part of an effort to increase access to nature and the health benefits.

PaRx, a health initiative launched by the BC Parks Foundation in 2019, partnered with Parks Canada to provide doctors across four provinces with an initial run of 100 passes that can be prescribed (开处方). The program allows doctors to write more general prescriptions for time spent out in nature; two hours a week, at least 20 minutes at a time, is what PaRx director Dr. Melissa Lem suggests.

“Given the growing body of evidence that indicates nature time can improve all kinds of different physical and mental health conditions, we’re hoping that our PaRx program not only improves patient health, but reduces costs to the health-care system, and helps to grow the number of people who are more engaged environmental advocates,” said Prama Rahman, a coordinator for the BC Parks Foundation.

Doctors have been catching on, instructing their patients to turn to nature to improve their health and they're getting creative in how they do it. Dr. Robert Zarr, a doctor based in Washington, began prescribing accessible outdoor activities for his young patients and even created a searchable online database of local parks to make it easier.

But getting outside isn’t always as easy as it might sound. Income can affect one’s access to nature, an issue that PaRx is trying to address in Canada. Doctors utilizing the new national parks pass program are urged to prioritize patients who might not otherwise be able to afford these passes.

While only 100 adult passes, which give holders access to more than 80 national parks, historic sites and nature reserves, have initially been made available, organizers plan to routinely reassess this number as the program grows, the BC Parks Foundation told NPR

8. What is PaRx intended to do?
A.Qualify doctors to prescribe.B.Give patients free access to parks.
C.Promote free admission to parks.D.Advocate 20 minutes’ walk a day.
9. What does the underlined word “utilizing” in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A.Financing.B.Setting up.C.Evaluating.D.Carrying out.
10. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.The BC Parks Foundation is expanding rapidly.
B.The program has signed up 80 national parks.
C.More people will benefit from the program.
D.Those living close to parks can gain priority.
11. Which is the best title of the text?
A.PaRx, a Nature Prescription Program.B.BC Parks Foundation in Canada
C.Year-long Passes to National ParksD.A New Study on Benefits of Walk

Chinese cultural relic authorities on Thursday revealed some new discoveries from the puzzling Sanxingdui Ruins in Sichuan Province, including a gold mask, a huge bronze mask, bronze statues and ivory carvings.

A complete gold mask 37.2 centimeters wide, 16.5 centimeters high and about 100 grams in weight was unearthed from No.3 Pit. The golden mask shares a similar size and the same facial features as one of the bronze heads unearthed before. "This golden mask might be a part of the face of the bronze head," Ran Hongling, head of the Sanxingdui Institute of Archaeology (考古), told the Global Times. Meanwhile, a large bronze mask, 135 centimeters wide and 74 centimeters high, was dug up from the same pit, which is relatively well preserved and it is the largest bronze mask ever discovered at the site.

Among the newly unearthed bronze statues from No. 4 Pit, one standing figure is being jokingly called the ancient "ancestor" of the popular Japanese superhero "Ultraman" due to the pointed crown (冠) on its head and his eyes that stick out. Another bronze statue has a special hairstyle that reminded people of the crown-shaped hat worn by Zhuge Liang, a Chinese statesman living during the Three Kingdoms period. And still another bronze statue has a unique pose. The figure is kneeling down with his head turned to the right and his hands are on the front left side of his body, but most interestingly, the figure is standing on the balls of both feet with his heels high in the air. The shapes and decorations of these bronze statues make them unique as valuable resources for the research of the ancient Kingdom of Shu, some 3,000 years ago.

Currently, the third and fourth pits have produced 729 and 1,073 relics, including three relics made from unknown materials. Meanwhile, 200 ivory relics have been discovered in the eighth pit.

12. What do we know about the bronze mask?
A.It is the most complete relic ever discovered.
B.It has the largest size of its kind unearthed at the site.
C.It was dug from the No. 4 Pit of the Sanxingdui Ruins.
D.It has the same facial features as a bronze bead previously found.
13. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The significance of the bronze statues.B.Similar images of the unearthed status.
C.The digging process of the bronze statues.D.The characteristics of the thee bronze statues.
14. What makes one bronze statue look like "Ultraman"?
A.Its eyes and crown.B.Its hairstyle.
C.Its unique pose.D.Its crown-shaped hat.
15. What can be the best title for the text?
A.An ancient kingdom was newly discovered.
B.Mysterious Sanxingdui Ruins reveal more relics.
C.Sichuan Province is the birthplace of a new civilization.
D.New Sanxingdui pits catch the attention of archaeologists.

After hours of working, many people find themselves in desperate need of a re-charge. Some people grab a coffee to stay awake.    16

A recent study found that one in five working Americans nap (小憩) during the workday, with 87% of them reporting feeling refreshed afterward. "A power nap can provide the refreshment you need if you're struggling to stay alert or haven't had a good night's sleep," explains Rebecca Robbins, a sleep scientist at Brigham and Women's Hospital.    17    However, power naps are only beneficial when they are done correctly.

"You don't have to go to sleep fully," says James Maas, a professor at Cornell University, who is best known for his work in the field of sleep research.    18    He says, "20 minutes should be enough to power through the rest of the work day." However, Maas cautions that longer naps are counterproductive and even harmful. If you power nap any time longer than 40 minutes, you're going to wake up feeling very groggy (昏昏沉沉的).

Shelby Harris, a clinical psychologist adds that the best time to take your power nap is between 1and 3p.m.    19

To make the most of your power nap, you'd better choose a comfortable place and time to nap. Also, put your alarm away from the bed.    20    One more thing, get some daylight exposure after your nap. It's best to get up, walk around and see some sunlight to fight any grogginess.

A.Naps are not for everyone.
B.It does boost workplace productivity.
C.This helps prevent power nappers turning it off easily.
D.He coined the term "power nap" more than 50 years ago.
E.Napping any later in the day can affect your sleep at night.
F.Sleep experts say that power naps should be quick and refreshing.
G.However, it may be more beneficial to fight your sleepiness with sleep.

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

As a young boy, I was carefree. Every vacation I looked forward to two things—seeing my grandpa and hearing his wonderful stories. My grandpa was a very good storyteller. He had worked various odd jobs when he was young and wove his adventures and misadventures into fantastic tales. These wonderful tales colored my childhood.

As I grew up, I had to admit that Grandpa’s stories went on a little long, even a little boring and gradually lost their magic. However, not wanting to upset him, my brother and I would sometimes take turns sitting in the living room, listening to grandpa tell his stories.

When my grandpa was approaching 91, he suffered from serious memory-loss. It was kind of what doctors called dementia (痴呆), probably the earliest stage of Alzheimer’s disease. Following the doctor’s directions, we moved him into a Sunrise Assisted Living Community, where he could get a better care. After that, grandpa hardly came to our house.

One weekend before my grandpa’s birthday, I came to visit him. Seeing grandpa sitting in his armchair, dull-looking, I was consumed with mixed feelings. I wheeled grandpa to the sunshine in the courtyard, talking to him. He couldn’t express himself clearly and spoke in short bursts, but I listened to him patiently and carefully just as I used to be a little boy.

It was then that I noticed a shadow box with some old and yellowish photos in it. I picked one up, in which my brother, several boys in our neighborhood, and I were playing basketball with grandpa cheering us on twenty years before. My mind flashed back to those beautiful memories. Back then, Grandpa was in good physical condition and we were all wearing basketball jerseys, playing and laughing with abandon. I presented the photo to my grandpa, pointing at each member and reminding him of their names. Incredibly, grandpa could speak out the name of every player. I even caught a soft light in grandpa’s eyes and a smile on his lips.
