This gateway town to Yellowstone National Park has become     1     dead end and a sufferer of the extremely serious flooding that tore through one of America’s most beloved natural     2     (attraction) and swept away roads, bridges and homes.

The unprecedented (前所未有的) flood has affected the entire park     3     forced the evacuation (撤离) of 10,000 visitors. And towns like Red Lodge that lead to Yellowstone’s northern entrances and rely on tourists passing through could suffer all summer.

Officials have said the park’s southern part, which     4     (feature) Old Faithful, can reopen as soon as next week. But the north end,     5     includes Tower Fall and the bears and wolves of Lamar Valley, can stay     6     (close) for months after sections of major roads inside Yellowstone were washed away or buried in rockfall. Roads     7     (lead) to the park also have widespread damage that it can take months     8     (repair).

Red Lodge is facing a double disaster: It will have to clean up the damage     9     (do) by the flood and also figure out how to survive without the summer business that     10     (normal) supports it for the rest of the year.

Elephants in the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (禁猎区) in northern Kenya are being fed goat milk. Workers there say the elephants enjoy drinking goat milk. They say the milk may be     1     (healthy) for them than other choice.

The sanctuary had been using powdered baby milk     2     (feed) the young animals it cared for. But it decided to test goat milk,     3     costs less and is locally available.

The sanctuary rescues young elephants     4     (find) alone in the wild and cares for them. It is not until they are old enough     5     they will be returned to the wild. Dr. Steven Chege is the sanctuary’s medical advisor. He says goat milk seems to be very good for the     6     (survive) and health of baby elephants.

Chege says goat milk is helpful because it contains a different kind of “highly digestible protein” that powdered baby milk lacks. This results in fewer stomach     7     (problem) for the young elephants.

Liwana Lenakukunyia is one of many goat farmers     8     (sell) milk to the sanctuary. She says she’s happy to get new earning and that many of the farmers who now earn money     9     (be) women. “Since we started milking goats and selling milk to the sanctuary,     10     least we have our own cash to feed our family with,” she said.

The world's oldest known wild bird is a 70-year-old albatross (信天翁)    1     （name）Wisdom. Since last fall, she and her mate     2     (sit)on an egg. Last month, their chick hatched (孵化).

The Midway Atoll (环礁)     3     (make) up of two small islands in the Pacific Ocean.     4     area is home to about 3 million seabirds. About 1.3 million of these birds are Laysan albatrosses, like Wisdom Albatrosses are huge birds-their wings measure around 2 meters.

In 1956, when Wisdom was about five, she was banded by a scientist, Chandler Robbins. In 2002, when Mr. Robbins returned to Midway, he was     5     (excite) to find Wisdom again and realized she was over fifty.

Albatrosses normally have just one partner. But Wisdom has lived so long     6     she has had several partners. Akeakamai has been her partner since around 2012. It takes so much effort to hatch an egg     7     raise a chick that many albatrosses only lay one egg every other year.

Wisdom laid her most recent egg in late November of last year. Since then, she and Akeakamai had taken     8    (turn) sitting on the egg and keeping it warm. The chick arrived on February 2.

Now Wisdom and Akeakamai are keeping busy,     9    (take) long trips over the sea to gather food for their chick. These trips can last for days and can cover as much as 1,600 kilometers. Scientists think Wisdom's age and experience are     10     (possible) helping keep her safe on these trips.
