The rocket is intended to place Chang'e 5 in an Earth-moon transfer path, the    2    (heavy) and largest in the nation's lunar probe fleet (探测舰队). Chang'e 5 will fly in the path within the next several days and conduct a key braking maneuver (刹车动作) to avoid    3    (accidental) flying past the moon. After its    4    (arrive) in lunar orbit, the probe will then separate    5    two parts, with one part remaining in orbit while the other    6    (land) on the lunar surface. The landing part will conduct such assignments as obtaining underground rocks and gathering surface dint. The entire mission    7    (schedule) to last about 23 days. For several billion years after the "Big Bang", the earth wasilljust a cloud of dust. What it was to become was uncertain until between 4.5 and 3.8 billion years ago     4     the dust settled into a solid globe. The earth became so violent that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not. It exploded loudly with fire and rock. They were in time     5    (produce) carbon, nitrogen, water vapor and other gases, which were to make the earth’s atmosphere. What is even     6    (important) is that as the earth cooled down, water began to appear on its surface.

Water had also appeared on other planets like Mars but,     7    the earth, it had disappeared later. It was not     8    (immediate) obvious that water was to be fundamental to the development of life. What many scientists believe is that the continued     9    (present) of water allowed the earth to dissolve harmful gases and acids into the oceans and seas. This produced a chain reaction, which made     10       possible for life to develop.

If you went looking for a     1     (differ) planet, from Earth as you could find, you wouldn't have to go all that far, at least in space terms. Just look to     2     fifth planet in our, solar system, Jupiter. This gas giant has no solid surface. Its diameter (直径) is more than 11 times as great as Earth's. Its mass is more than twice than     3     of all the other planets in. the solar system combined. Jupiter's atmosphere is covered with bands of clouds and filled with vast     4     (spin) storms. The most famous of these is the Great Red Spot,     5     is so big that Earth could fit inside it.

Jupiter is also a planet full of     6    (puzzle). Those thick bands of clouds hide. what is happening inside the planet. Is there water? How much? Does Jupiter have a solid center? And then there's the question of just what     7     (drive) those monster storms.

Nine spacecrafts     8     (send) to study Jupiter by now. The most recent was Juno, which arrived at the planet in July 2016. It will orbit this gas giant at least until July 2021. NASA has discovered the eighth planet of a star system, similar to our solar system. The star, Kepler-90, is over 2,500 light years away and larger and     1     (hot) than our sun. It is the first star known to have as many planets as our solar system.

The Kepler-90 star system is much more compact (紧凑的) than our solar system. The outermost planet     2     (orbit) the star at about the same distance as the earth goes around the sun. Its inner planets are smaller and rocky     3     the outer ones are larger and made up of gas.

The newly discovered planet, Kepler-90i, is     4     (probable) rocky and similar to our earth, but because of its closeness to its home star, it has     5     average surface temperature of about 400°C. It moves around the star once every 14.4 days.

The discovery was made on data     6     (provide) by the Kepler space telescope. Launched in March 2009, the telescope has constantly been looking     7     certain sections of the universe in search of new stars and planetary systems. Up to now, over 2,000 new systems     8     (discover).

9     (help) analyze the data, NASA has been relying on artificial intelligence software supplied by Google. This software examines weak     10     (signal) of light when objects pass in front of a star. The new way of examining data is expected to find even more new planets in the future.
