Chinese state media has praised a viral video series telling the story of a jade teapot coming to life and fleeing the British Museum to make     1     (it) way back home.

The set of three short episodes, entitled Escape from the British Museum, shows     2     teapot turning into a young woman in a green dress, who then engages a London-based Chinese journalist to help her reunite with her family. It appears     3     (strike) a chord in China after first being released by independent vloggers on Douyin, China’s equivalent to TikTok. By Monday evening, it had reportedly racked up more than 310 million     4     (view). The plot line taps into growing Chinese criticism of the British Museum after reports last month     5     more than 1,500     6     (price) objects, including gold jewellery, semi precious stones and glass, were missing,     7     (steal) or damaged.

State broadcaster CCTV also gave the short films a glowing review     8     (say): “We are very pleased to see Chinese young people are passionate about history and tradition... We are also looking forward to the early return of Chinese artefacts that     9     (display) overseas.”

The new three-part show has unleashed a wave of nationalism among viewers,     10     many praising the creative plot that reduced them to tears by showing how the teapot experienced the happiness of returning to China to see pandas and watch a flag-raising ceremony on Tiananmen Square.

A Chinese short video that has gone viral on social media has sparked heated discussions about the return of Chinese cultural relics from overseas. Titled Escape from British Museum, the three-episode series tells the story of    1    a Chinese jade teapot, having turned into a woman and escaped from the British Museum, returned to China with the help of a Chinese journalist.

The series, released from August 30 to September 8,     2     (receive) more than 20 million likes on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, each episode having been played over 5 million times on Bilibili, another Chinese video platform, by the end of last week.

A Chinese vlogger posted a video online earlier this year depicting her visit to the British Museum, saying that the cultural relics must miss home. A comment under the post suggested that someone should one day make some    3     (video) about cultural relics escaping from the museum. The idea in the comment inspired another two Chinese vloggers     4    (research) the topic and travel to the UK to shoot the video. The story has touched Chinese web users with its theme of homecoming, contributing to calls for the British Museum to return cultural relics taken from China.

The British Museum has long claimed the relics are    5    (well) protected in the British Museum than in their home countries     6     announced on its website that the museum has    7     collection of 23,000 Chinese cultural relics, which is believed to be the largest collection outside of China. Renowned Chinese respiratory disease expert Zhong Nanshan has extended     1     invitation to Zhang Guimei, 64, the founder and principal of the     2    (one) free high school for girls in China, to receive medical treatment for her serious illnesses in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

Zhang,     3     is also a recipient(获得者) of the July 1 Medal — the Communist Party of China's highest honor — established Huaping Girls High School in Lijiang, Yunnan province, offering free education to girls from a less-developed area. She     4    (help) nearly 2,000 girls attend college over the years, though she herself suffers     5     respiratory illness.

Zhong Weide, the son of respiratory expert Zhong, extended the invitation on behalf of his well-known father at the premiere of a dance drama in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, earlier this month. The show    6    (base) on Zhang's story.

Huang Wenxiu, an official in Baini village in Baise, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region,     1     (lose) her life at the age of 30 when a flash flood swept her away as she was driving back to work.

After earning     2     master’s degree from Beijing Normal University in 2016, Huang returned to Baise, her hometown, instead of seeking a career in the capital. “I grew up in a remote mountainous village     3     quite a number of folk are struggling with poverty, and all I wish is to do my part     4     (improve) their lives,” she once said.

With the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the Chinese government stepped up     5     (it) nationwide campaign to remove poverty in 2015. Before retirements Zhao was a math teacher. After she stopped working, she began to solve the Rubik’s Cube as     2     hobby. As a green hand，Zhao learned a little     3     (slow) at first. Yet she was determined to get good     4     it. She found some online courses and spent more than four years     5     (learn) to solve the Rubik’s Cube by herself.

Later, she learned how to do it blindfolded. “When I first learned to solve it blindfolded, I was     6     (curiosity) about how other people did it. I just thought if they could do it, I could too,” Zhao said. Then she found a professional to teach her. Though it is difficult for people in     7     (they) 60s to learn to solve the Rubik’s Cube blindfolded, Zhao did her best to learn the     8     (skill). During her learning process, she used up four notebooks in all.
