Memory loss: 4 tips to improve your memory

Can’t find your car keys? Forget your shopping list? Can’t remember the name of the personal trainer you liked at the gym?     1     Everyone forgets things occasionally. Still, memory loss is nothing to take lightly.

Although there are no guarantees when it comes to preventing memory loss, certain activities might help. Consider four simple ways to sharpen your memory.

1.     2

Exercising increases blood flow to your whole body, including your brain. For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity(有氧运动), such as walking, preferably spread throughout the week.

2. Stay mentally active

Just as physical activity helps keep your body in shape, mentally active activities help keep your brain in shape — and might keep memory loss at bay. Do crossword puzzles. Play bridge. Take alternate routes when driving. Volunteer at a local school.     3

3. Socialize regularly

Social interaction helps keep depression and stress away.     4     Look for chances to get together with loved ones, friends and others — especially if you live alone.

4. Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet might be as good for your brain as it is for your heart. Eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Choose low-fat protein sources, such as fish, beans and skinless meat.     5     Too much alcohol can lead to confusion and memory loss. So can drug use.

A.It is so terrible.
B.You are not alone.
C.What you drink counts too.
D.Learn to play a musical instrument.
E.Both of them can contribute to memory loss.
F.Include physical activity in your daily routine.
G.Set aside a place for keys, glasses and other essentials.

Keep a scientific diet. Keep in mind that sugar can be removed (去除) from our diet completely. Over intake (摄入量) of sugar is one of the main reasons for getting fat. Over intake of protein (蛋白质) or fat and low intake of fiber can also lead to getting fat. We only need a few grams of protein to keep our body in order.

Be always in a good mood. There is a relationship between the mood and health. A good mood keeps you in high spirits. Thanks to the Internet, we can enjoy and learn much without going out. Take a look at some online shops and pick up some bargains, enjoy music and movies and chat with good friends. Just keep happy.

Enough sleep. Two studies show the reasons why teens and adults don’t have enough sleep. With teens, a major reason is mobile phone use; with adults, it’s work. Meanwhile, a third study of young children shows that lack of sleep in early life may lead to serious problems in future. Everyone needs at least 8-hour sleep to recover (恢复) from tiredness and the hurt caused by hard work in the daytime.

【推荐2】If you are planning on travelling, there are a few simple rules about how to make life easier both before and after your journey.

First of all, always check and double—check departure (启程) time. It is amazing how few people really do this carefully. Once I arrived at the airport a few minutes after ten, my secretary had got the ticket for me and I thoughts he had said that the plane left at 10:50. When I arrived at the airport, the clerk at the departure desk told me that my flight was closed. Therefore, I had to wait three hours for the next one and missed an important meeting.

The second rule is to remember that even in this age of credit cards, it is still important to have at least a little of the local currency (货币) with you when you arrive in a country. This can be necessary if you are flying to a place at midnight and the bank at the airport was closed. The only way to get to my hotel was by taxi and because I had no dollars, I offered to pay in pounds instead. “Listen! I only take real money!” the driver said angrily. Luckily I was able to borrow a few dollars from a clerk at the hotel, but it was awkward.

The third and last rule is to find out as much as you can about the weather at your destination before you leave. I feel sorry for some of my workmates who travel in heavy suit and raincoats in May, when it is still fairly cool in London or Manchester, to places like Athens, Rome or Madrid, where it is already beginning to get quite warm during the day.

1. Where is the writer most probably from?
A.Italy.B.The USA.C.The UK.D.Greece.
2. According to the passage, the driver was angry because the writer________.
A.gave him false moneyB.did not give him the local money
C.offered to pay by credit cardD.had no enough change
3. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.The author tells people to choose warm places as their travel destinations.
B.You don’t have to take credit cards when travelling.
C.You should to check the departure time carefully.
D.You don’t need to know the weather of the place you’ll visit.
4. The writer mainly tells us________.
A.how to make life easierB.how to be well prepared for a trip
C.how to enjoy ourselves on tripD.how to plan our trip
