【推荐1】During the summer holidays, you might be eager to get out and about. What would you like to do? There are plenty of helpful websites and apps with good ideas.

The Wildlife Trusts charity has a map of walks all over the UK. You can zoom in to find the ones nearest where you live, read about them and plan a visit. Another good website for finding places to walk is AllTrails, where you can search for the name of a nearby city or park to explore with your family or friends.

One fun way to explore your neighborhood is through wildlife. The Week Junior Science+Nature’s summer scavenger hunt (寻宝游戏) asks you to track down 10 natural objects, including clouds and creepy-crawlies. There’s also a photo competition for young nature lovers.

Summer is the best time for butterfly-spotting, and iRecord Butterflies is a free app that helps you to identify the ones you see. It also uses the data to protect these beautiful creatures.

Another cool app worth checking is Seek by iNaturalist, which includes information about all sorts of wildlife, including bugs, fish and plants. And you can take part in monthly challenges. It’s been designed for families to use.

Finally, there’s Parkrun, where adults and young people get together to run in thousands of local parks. The Junior Parkrun website has a map showing you when and where these events take place, to help find your nearest one.

Before the 18th century, people of all classes usually ate with a knife and a spoon.

The fork’s path to the table was hard-won and slow. In ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, forks were used for slicing food into pieces or lifting meat from a pot or fire.

Following a reduction in size, the fork appeared to have entered dining areas in the courts of the Middle East and Byzantine Empire by the eighth and ninth centuries, and became common among wealthy families there by the tenth century. Early in the 11th century, it appeared in various pieces of European art. In the late 11th century, St.Peter Damian from Ostia wrote about a Byzantine princess who used forks and regarded her dying of a disease as punishment for such “luxury”.

The fork’s slow conquest of Europe was carried out from Italy. Motivated by the same concerns for hygiene(卫生)，forks were bought by wealthy Britons，inspired by Queen Victoria, who regarded fork use as a sign of good manners.

The fork’s introduction to North America dates back to 1633, when John Winthrop, a founder of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, was gifted a set of forks. The Industrial Revolution strengthened the fork’s presence on dining room tables as production of flatware became less expensive. Writing in 1896 inSocial Eriquere，Maud C. Cooke declared the fork had finally conquered the knife in America and “any attempt to give the knife importance at table is looked upon as an offense(冒犯)against good taste.”

【推荐2】Debbie Parker Solo Recent Work at Latrobe Artspace

Talented and award-winning artist Debbie Parker is excited to be one of the first artists exhibit in the ALL NEW Latrobe Artspace in October!

This exhibition features paintings inspired by Debbie’s leisurely walks in Mount Coot-Tha National Park. Each painting offers a different way of looking at a familiar Australian landscape.

Debbie never gets tired of developing new ideas from the pictures she takes of the local area and the result is a collection of expressive paintings celebrating the unique Australian landscape and local birds and flowers.

With over 25 years of experience as an artist. Debbie developed her expressionist style in the early 1990s. Since then, she has competed and exhibited around Australia. She has also completed workshops with well-known artists in Queensland. Her work has been recognized in national and local competitions.

Usually, Debbie would have been exhibiting in competitions around Australia throughout this year but COVID-19 has set new challenges for artists.

However, Debbie is looking ahead and can’t wait to meet you at her latest exhibition! She will be on-site from 6th to 11th October 2020 Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm at the ALL NEW Latrobe Artspace. 134 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington Queensland 4064.

For most Chinese born in the 1980s, their knowledge of Ne Zha comes from the ancient novel Fengshen Yanyi, as well as the 1986 TV series The Journey to the West and the 1990 hit drama Fengshen Bang. The stories of Ne Zha are retold in different ways in different times.

In the film, Ne Zha has a big change to his look. Another character, the Dragon King’s third son Ao Bing, almost destroys Ne Zha’s birthplace, Chen Tang Guan, in a selfish way. Ne Zha’s father, Li Jing, is no longer selfish as described in the past works; instead, he becomes a kind father willing to give up his own life to rescue his son. Ne Zha is born with a “cursed destiny”. He is unfairly treated by local villagers who believe that the naughty, yet good-hearted, child will grow up to be a public danger. In Ne Zha’s eyes, he believes his destiny is not predetermined and that he can choose to be a demon or a god.

“Humans are complex. You cannot judge a person with prejudice” the director said.
