That school year God blessed me with two trusted children—Tom and Mary. Whenever I went out for training, programs or personal matters, I left everything to them.
However, the peace was ruined when one day I lost one thousand pesos (比索) in my bag. I always kept my wallet near me. I only chose my trusted students to get near my things. I kept the door of my office closed every time I went for my classes. My spine trembled upon my seeing my money was no longer there. I scanned my wallet, my secret pocket and everything in my room. But all my attempts were in vain.
I was angry. That morning before my class ended, I appealed to everyone to help me catch the “thief”. At 4:00 in the afternoon that day, I reminded them about my warning of returning my money before investigation took place. Then suddenly, a boy called Larry said, “Miss, look at the paper on the floor!”
My heart beat wildly when I saw the crumpled paper which I thought useless. I replied to them immediately upon holding the paper. “Yes, here it is!” I showed it to them. They urged me to open the paper. I opened it and to my surprise, I saw the one thousand pesos! I felt relieved. Then, a letter appeared among the banknotes.
“Miss, I am sorry that I stole the money. I returned it. Do not tell my classmates that I returned the money and do not mention anything about it in class, because it hurts me. Thank you, Miss. But I can’t tell you why I stole your money.”
Oh my God! My brain flashed the handwriting of my trusted boy—the “thief”. I was sure this was Tom’s handwriting.

Steven Price is the class clown and has an unyielding (执着的) passion for coins. He tells silly jokes and asks dumb riddles while Ms. Redfield is trying to teach. “Ms. Redfield,” said Steven. “What have a head and a tail, but no body?”
“I don’t know,” said Ms. Redfield. “Coins!” Steven laughed and laughed.
When his attention is diverted (转移) from coins, he finds amusement in playing tricks. I don’t mind when Steven plays tricks on Ms. Redfield or on some other kids. I just hate it when he plays tricks on me. I try to avoid or ignore him, but he gets me every time!
During recess (课间休息) on Monday, Steven was holding a small box in his hand. “Come and see what I’ve got,” he said to me. Before I could reject it, Steven lifted the lid. As the lid of the creaks opened, a horrifying clown figure sprang forth with a sudden burst of energy. Its painted bloody grin stretched unnaturally wide, revealing rows of sharp, jagged (锯齿状的) teeth. I was startled! My heart raced as the clown’s high-pitched cackle (咯咯的笑) echoed through the classroom. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!” I said. Steven just made a face and disappeared.
On Tuesday, we were studying measurement. Steven asked me to help him measure part of the hallway for his project. I told him I was busy working on my own math problem. “This will just take a minute!” he said. He had a piece of string 30 feet long. He wanted to see if it would reach to the cafeteria. I held one end of the string, and Steven went down the hall and around the corner. Pretty soon I felt the string get tight. I thought he was measuring. Keeping holding the string, I thought he would come right back.

He was a shy, nervous perfectionist. His fear of failure kept him from classroom games that other children played with wild abandon. He seldom answered questions in class because he was afraid he might make mistakes. Written homework, especially math, reduced him to nail-biting frustration (挫败感). He seldom finished his work because he repeatedly checked with me to make sure he hadn’t made a mistake.
I tried my best to build his self-confidence, and I repeatedly asked other colleagues for good advice, but nothing changed until midterm, when Mary Anne, a student teacher, was sent to our classroom. She was young and pretty and she loved children. My pupils, Donnie included, liked her very much. However, even enthusiastic, loving Mary Anne found it hard to deal with this little boy who feared he might make a mistake.
Then one morning we were working math problems on the blackboard. Donnie had copied the problems with painstaking neatness and had worked out answers to some of them. Pleased with his progress, I left the children with Mary Anne and went for art materials. When I returned, I found Donnie was in tears because he had missed the third problem. My student teacher looked at me in despair. Suddenly her face brightened. From the desk we shared, she got a box filled with many pencils and two erasers.
“Look, Donnie,” she said, kneeling beside him and gently lifting the tear-stained face from his arms. “I’ve got something to show you.”She took out the pencils and erasers, one at a time, and placed them on his desk. Donnie looked a little confused, wiping tears from his eyes.

“See these pencils and erasers, Donnie?” she continued.

I have already forgotten the name of that old lady. Yet I still remember the matter as if it happened yesterday. It is she who teaches me a lesson in forgiveness.
It happened when I was twelve years old. That summer holiday, I planned to earn some pocket money by delivering the newspaper in our neighborhood. And she was a customer on my paper route. She was a kind lady and every time I gave her the paper, she would give me some cookies.
On a mindless Saturday afternoon, a friend and I were throwing rocks onto the roof of the old lady’s house from a quiet spot in her backyard. The purpose of our play was to observe how the rocks changed to missiles (导弹) as they rolled to the roof’s edge and shot out into the yard like comets (彗星) falling from the sky.
I found myself a perfectly smooth rock and sent it for a ride. The stone was too smooth, however, so it slipped from my hand as I let it go. Seeing it headed straight for a small window on the old lady’s back porch (门廊), we stood there, numb with fear. The sound of broken glass awoke us from the fear and the next second, we ran away from the old lady’s yard faster than any of our missiles flowing off her roof.
After coming back home, I was so scared of getting caught that I dared not go out that whole afternoon. I stayed at home, glancing at my front yard nervously from time to time, feeling that lady would knock at our door at any time. But until I went to bed, what I was afraid didn’t happen. Lying in bed, I wondered whether she didn’t discover the broken window or she didn’t discover who had done it? That was a sleepless night.

Since the day he was born, he had never been shown the affection and love every child needs. He had spent his entire life fighting for his survival in a world that treated him like he never existed. Even after all the hardships he had confronted (面对), Kevin still had hope for a better life. One organization proved to him that there was light at the end of the tunnel. The Sumner Community Food Bank was known for being charitable and being so generous that they donated food without any cost to the homeless. And Anita is the head of this organization.
On a cold morning, Kevin was extremely hungry. He looked around for the bread that the volunteers usually left the night before for people to take. As he spotted a loaf of bread, something else caught his eye. Kevin found a strange brown paper bag next to the building. He wondered if it had any more food inside, unaware of the surprise that would change his life forever.
As he approached the bag, he couldn’t smell anything that he thought was food. He wondered what was inside of the bag, and why it was left next to the food bank. After making his final guesses at what could be inside, Kevin slowly opened the bag. It was completely stuffed with cash. Kevin was overwhelmed by the multitude of $20 and $100 bills. He add-ed all of them up to see how much money there was in that bag, and it amounted to $17,000.
Kevin couldn’t believe his eyes and thought that he must have miscounted. Therefore, he counted again. The second time, it amounted to $17,000, too. However, Kevin decided not to get excited yet. After all, someone could have deliberately tried to fool him by filling the bag with fake money. He checked carefully to see if the money was real. After making sure all of the money was real, he wasn’t sure of what he should do with the load of money.

When I was 8, my dad helped me buy me the first old bike from our neighbor. I earned $ 60 by cutting grass and sweeping the snow and my dad raised the other half. 1 would pay him back over the next six months. Although it wasn't in the latest style, it was my ticket to the adult world.
I spent that summer and autumn riding happily. My sister Liz never had a chance to have her own bike. We had older brothers and sisters, a few of whom 'had bad taste on bikes. Now, however, I was able to ride to every corner of the town, sometimes even as far as the beach. In those days before one gained a driver's license, owning a good bike was a proud thing.
Just before the Christmas deadline to pay my dad back, we were hit by several snow-storms. This allowed me to sweep enough driveways to pay off my debt. I was now officially a bike owner. Working for a bike of my own was a special feeling unlike others.
However, my joy was short-lived after my dad called my sister Liz to the kitchen. “I have one more gift for you,” he said as he opened the door. There, on the steps, stood a new bike. I didn't hear her screams of joy. At the moment, all I could hear was the engine of the grass machine, the sound of the metal snow shovel(铲子) on the road.
After several weeks of finding me unhappy, my dad finally pulled me aside. “Is every-thing OK?” I complained, “It's unfair, I worked so hard for my bike and it's not even new. Then Liz got a new one as soon as I made the final payment. She didn't have to do anything for it.”
My dad smiled. “She didn't have to do anything for it because the bike is not really completely for her,” he said, and then left the room.
