The EXPO 2019 is set to showcase the     1    (late) trends and achievements in floriculture(花卉栽培), as well as fruit and vegetable food farming at     2     foot of the Great Wall in Yanqing District.

An estimated 16 million plant visitors are expected to flock into the capital for the 162-day event set     3    (run) from April 29 to October 7. Up to now, more than 110 countries and international organizations, as well as over 120 nonofficial exhibitors,     4    (confirm) participation. This is set to be the highest attendance in the event’s history.

There will be more than 2,500 cultural activities throughout the expo     5     are expected to promote exchanges and cooperation. The event is genuinely innovatory,     6    (vary) from the horticultural sector(园艺部门) to many other sectors, like vegetables, fruits and Chinese herbal medicine(中草药). Meanwhile, there will be many high-tech gadgets which will provide a better range     7     services, like 5G technology.

According to the organizing committee, the site construction for the expo has entered the final stage. Interior and exterior     8    (decorate), electromechanical installation, and outdoor projects are being finished at the core venues.

All infrastructure for 100 indoor and outdoor gardens at the exhibition will be finished     9    (complete) at the end of March.

This is the second time for China to hold such a high-level horticulture expo. The first such event ​    10    (hold) in Kunming, Yunnan province in 1999.

In recent years, shared vegetable plots (地块) have been appearing in Shanghai’s suburban districts as more white-collar workers turn to farming to relax and escape the pressures of city life.

Among these individuals     1    (be) Yang Rui, who, on weekends, drives his family from their home in downtown to the All-Happy City,     2     shared ecological farm in Minhang, where he has rented a 20-square-meter vegetable plot for 1,600 yuan per year. The family tends carrots, lettuce and other vegetables they have planted. When they aren’t around during the week,     3    (professional) take over the work and perform whatever chores     4    (need).

This farm has about 200 members, some of     5     even raise chickens and ducks that wander in the fields.

Chen notes that many of his customers are parents who rent plots     10    (primary) to teach their kids about science and nature and how farming works.

Peter Hessler and his colleague had four weeks off and decided to take a boat downstream. After they showed the passport, they got on the Jiangyou boat. Weihai, a coastal city of Shandong province, has built a 1, 001-kilometer route that strings together picturesque (风景如画的) coastal and     1     (mountain) landscapes to further develop its tourism sector and rural areas.

The highway has made travel across Weihai more convenient and it has brought     6     increased number of visitors to the city, says Wang Hongchen, an official of the culture and tourism bureau (旅游局) of Rongcheng, a county-level city of Weihai.
