One of the hardest parts of any weight loss program is staying motivated throughout it. In fact, being able to keep your motivation while trying to lose weight is the essential success factor.     1

One of the first ways to keep your level of motivation is to create a strong plan, which will help you to see where you are headed at each stage of your program.     2     For example, make sure it includes the number of minutes you intend to exercise each day as well as what you will do to achieve each goal.

3     Thus you can keep your motivation high during the program. So think happy thoughts. You may think about how much good you are doing to your body while you are exercising. When you eat healthier foods, imagine your heart thanking you.

Making a list of positive changes from lost weight will also help. Will you feel much better because you’ve become healthier? Will you have a better self-image because you can finally fit into that dress you’ve been admiring?     4

The final way to stay with your weight loss program is to vary your routines. Your mind is quite likely to get bored if your weight loss program never changes.     5     Moreover, to keep from being bored with your diet, buy some new healthy living cookbooks or search Internet recipe sites to find some new healthy dishes. This can help to keep you within your calorie limits without boring you.

A.Your plan should be specific.
B.Whatever will change about your life, list it.
C.Will you make an effort to have a balanced diet?
D.So how can you stay motivated during your weight loss program?
E.Have you thought of the problems that might come up if you are too fat?
F.Another good way is to think positively about your weight loss program.
G.So start a different exercise program you might be interested in every few months.

【推荐1】Playing sports is a lot of fun. But getting hurt is unavoidable.     1

Wear protective equipment.

The equipment you wear depends on the sport you play. Helmets(头盔)are the most common protective equipment. They protect your head while you’re playing football, baseball and softball, biking and so on.

Warm up.

2     Doing some stretching exercises can get you prepared to play sports. By warming up, you get yourself ready to play. Warming up your muscles and practicing a sport help keep you safe, too.

Know the rules of the games.

Traffic lights help prevent crashes between the cars that drive on the roads together. This works because drivers know the rules and follow them--at least most of the time.    3     When players know the rules of the games, fewer injuries will happen. For example, you know that in football you can’t come from behind, crash into a player's legs and steal the ball. It's legal-and safer-to go after the ball rather than the player.

    4

Some rules have nothing to do with scoring points, They are just about protecting other people. For example, a diver would make sure that the pool is clear before diving in. Otherwise, he or she might land on someone else.

    5

This is a really important one. If you love sports, you may get right back to the game even you’re injured. But playing when you’re hurt is a bad idea. It can lead to an even worse injury.

A.Watch out for others.
B.Don’t do too much exercise.
C.It’s the same way with sports.
D.Don't play when you’re injured.
E.It’s not a good idea to just go to the field and start playing.
F.You and the other players know what to expect from each other.
G.Take these steps to prevent injuries so that you can stay in the game.

文章大意:本文为一篇说明文,介绍了徒步运动中需要注意的一些事项和训练方法。

【推荐2】Knowing how many kilometers or miles per hour you’ll likely cover while hiking is of great importance.     1     It’s also important to build in time for breaks and extra time in case of bad weather or harder situations than expected.

If you’re not sure what your average hiking speed is, don’t worry.     2     Naismith’s rule is considered useful and was invented by the Scottish mountaineer William W. Naismith. It’s a great way to work out how long it will take you to complete your chosen path and it takes into consideration both distance and elevation (海拔高度).

It can be worked out as follows. One hour for every 3 miles plus an additional hour for every 600m of ascent (升高). So let’s say you wanted to know how long it would take to hike 6 miles with an elevation gain of 1,200m. That’s 2 hours for the distance and another 2 hours for the ascent, for a total of 4 hours.     3     It doesn’t include breaks.

4     You can choose exercises that you enjoy, whether that’s running, cycling, dance classes or something else. As long as it helps you build muscle (肌肉) strength, it will help you get your average hiking speed where you want it to be. Interestingly, specific weight training also helps increase your average walking speed on the path. It’s common knowledge that hikers should focus mainly on leg strength.     5

A.Note that’s only your hiking time.
B.There’s an easy way to work it out.
C.Your hiking speed isn’t an exact science.
D.It can ensure that you safely reach your destination.
E.But some hiking places do require you to use your upper body too.
F.Consider how to increase your hiking speed on and off the mountain.
G.One of the best ways to hike faster is to train when you’re not hiking.
