On weekends, go through the arts market or go to a cheap movie at the South Bank cinema. South Bank Parklands often hosts free events and performances too.
Roma Street Parkland
Close to bus transport, this inner city parkland is easily accessible (可进入的) and ideal for kids of all ages. Younger kids can take a trip on the Jelly Bean Express, a 1.3 km trackless train ride around the parkland or there’s a playground to explore. Free entry and open daily.
Skating and climbing
We love the places that let the kids expend all that youthful energy. Take them roller skating (滑旱冰) or ice skating. Or try rock climbing at a variety of indoor and outdoor places around Brisbane.

Nowadays, it seems there are two ways to write about parenthood. I am heartily sick of both. This year I’ve decided to hug books that are inspiring and honest, yet do not avoid the pleasures of parenthood.
Life Among the Savages Shirley Jackson price: $15
Shirley Jackson, author of one of the most amazingly sinister novels of all time and of the short story The Lottery, also wrote two charming novels about raising her four children in an old farmhouse in rural Vermont. In Life Among the Savages, Jackson’s humor is as thrilling as her horror, and her children seem never to inspire in her anything worse than a fond exasperation (恼怒) .
A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You Amy Bloom price: $13. 95
A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You contains one of the most absolute expressions of a mother’s love in fiction. Much of it takes place in the waiting room of a gender-reassignment surgeon. It’s about a woman who is determined to be the mother that her child needs her to be. In this collection ordinary women rise to the occasion demanded by motherhood. They make mistakes but they generall succeed in making up for them.
Family Man Calvin Trillin price: $ 18
In his memoir (回忆录) Family Man, Calvin Trillin writes with humor about his wife and daughters. He gives what I think is the single most useful piece of parenting advice “Getting advice on the best way to bring up children is like getting advice on the best way to breathe sooner or later you’re probably going to forget it and go back to your regular old in-and-out.” Trillin gives the impression of being the best kind of husband.

The Calculating Stars (By Mary Robinette Kowal)
What if space exploration isn’t a choice but a necessity, driven by the knowledge that Earth would soon become unfit to live?
That’s what novelist Mary Robinette Kowal explores in her Lady Astronaut of Mars series. The book follows the mathematician and pilot Elma York, who dreams of becoming an astronaut herself.
Red Moon (By Kim Stanley Robinson)
Red Moon instantly transports the readers to the moon. The book opens with the journeys of Fred Fredericks, an American physicist, and Ta Shu, a famous Chinese travel reporter to the moon to work. In the world of the book, China has become the first political entity by virtue of advanced technology to live on the moon in a serious, long-term way.
Before Mars (By Emma Newman)
Emma Newman’s science fiction sees a geologist arrives at a small Mars base after a lengthy journey, only to realize that things aren’t as they seem. The base’s AI is untrustworthy, and the main character finds a note by herself she has no memory of writing, which warns her not to trust the base psychologist. Can she trust the sights before her? Or has the long trip damaged her mind?
Artemis (By Andy Weir)
In his second novel Artemis, Andy Weir follows Jasmine Jazz Bashara, a porter on the moon who’s drawn into danger. Artemis is an entertaining read through an attractive future moon base, with plenty of one-sixth-gravity action and memorable twists. It’s well worth reading. Plus, there’s a talking book version read by Rosario Dawson.

【推荐3】Some Must-see Travel Destinations for 2020
National Geographic has issued its 2020 list of best travel destinations across the world and it's sure to inspire would-be vacationers.
Guizhou Province, China
Historically one of China's most undiscovered provinces, southwestern Guizhou is gaining global notice as a big data center. The mountainous region's plentiful water and cool climate are attractive to Huawei, Apple and dozens of other tech powerhouses that have been established there. This has improved access to the entire province, including the traditional villages of ethnic minority groups, such as Dong and Miao.
Zakouma National Park, Chad
Home to a rapidly growing African elephant population — some 559 in 2019 and a thousand expected by 2024 — Zakouma National Park is an off-the map African destination. The park's location, in southeastern Chad, one of the world's least-visited countries, makes Zakouma a best-kept secret. Illegal hunting previously had made the park nearly a war zone, with 90 percent of the wild elephants killed. Funding from the European Union has brought back life to the region.
Cairo, Egypt
The Great Pyramid, one of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World, can be found just outside Cairo. This triangular structure has been of interest to travelers far and wide for more than 4,000 years. Yet splendid as it is, it also houses some of the most interesting mysteries. It makes visitors wonder what's inside the pyramid.
National Blue Trail, Hungary
Hungary is a dream hiking destination thanks to the country's National Blue Trail. Winding its way from Irottko Mountain to the northeastern village of Hollóháza, the Blue Trail is a wonderfully diverse web of paths labeled with white-and-blue way markers. As Europe's first long-distance trail, it's part of the nearly 6,500-mile European long distance walking route E4.
