Does your child have a passion for music, dance, acting or any arts? Attending a summer camp with this focus is a perfect way for them to explore while giving them experience and confidence. We have some of, the best, summer, camps, from, around the country. Here are top four for you to choose for your kid.
Steve & Kate’s Camp
We believe that when you trust kids, they learn to trust themselves, and so since1989, Steve & Kate’s has offered summer day camps where kids of aged 6-16 choose their own adventure through a range of activities, including baking, arts and a media lab, dancing, sports... And because they’re making their own choices, they find a sense of meaning in their activities that is hard to find elsewhere. Every single one of our camps is open from 8 am until 6 pm, and you can drop off or pick up at any time in that window. And get ready for a summer without packing lunches! Lunch and snacks are included daily.
Camp Cayuga
We can’t wait for your child to walk the halls of their dream campus, bond with new friends and experience the magic that has made the world. At Alexa Café, girls aged 10-15 tap into the power of technology, exploring leadership and social impact along the way. Ideas take shape in a unique, coffee shop-like setting between new friends. With small classes, this isn’t school. We take the pressure off so girls can get straight to what matters-building a love of tech and bringing meaningful projects to life with creativity.
Camp Invention
For over 30 years, the National Inventors Hall of Fame has inspired millions of children through its summer program, Camp Invention. The week-long program is led by local educators in your community and shows children of 6-8 years old how to develop the mind of an innovator.
Rolling River Day Camp
Since 1993, RRDC has provided children, aged 3-8with great camp experiences that result in the development of real life skills, real friendships, and real FUN! Rolling River is the only private day camp in the SW corner of Nassau that is owned by a local family. While RRDC offers every sports/arts activity imaginable, including unique riverside boating, it’s the traditional values learned within the Rolling River community that bring families back each year. California Dreamin’
While you are visiting California Dreamin’, El Matador’s eye-catching nightfall is a worthy way to lead you into deep thought. It is about the sands of time. Pack a basket of delicious food for a late-in-the-day picnic overlooking the Pacific Ocean, via the Pacific Coast Highway. The sunset is a sweet dessert.
Grand Canyon, Arizona
The 1,218,375-acre Grand Canyon National Park is wonderful. The canyon itself stretches 277 miles. Its wildlife is also so abundant. You can go to the South Rim of the canyon (大峡谷), which offers the best sunset advantages. Sometimes, you can see deer running and eagles flying with the sunset standing as the background. An unforgettable thrill: Grand Canyon Floor Landing Helicopter Sunset Tour by Canyon Tours.
Florida Serenity
Called the River of Grass, Everglades National Park — South Florida’s amazing 1.5-million-acre wetland reserve — is quilted with coastal trees and grass. An especially chosen sunset-watching site is near Mrazek Pond, approximately three miles north of the Flamingo Visitor Center. This is a birder’s (观鸟者) dream place, too, home to more than 360 species.
Hawaii Aloha
Haleakala Crater in Hawaii Aloha, a vast dormant (休眠期的) volcano 10,023 feet above sea level, is famous for its sunrises — so that dawn sun-seekers climb the volcano in the middle of the night to make the long drive up a winding road to the summit. But Haleakala’s sunsets are just as amazing. Since fewer people arrive late in the day, a more personal sunset participation is possible. Consider a private or group sunset hike to appreciate the Pacific Ocean. It is worthwhile.

Read Across America began 19 years ago as a way to get kids excited about reading. “You have this magical thing happen when an adult sits with a kid and turns the pages,” said Lily Eskelsen Garcia, the NEA president. “The whole point is making it fun, not for the next test.”
That fun involves celebrating the funny characters created by Dr. Seuss. This year, as one of the sponsors (赞助商) of Read Across America, Southwest Airlines made their flight attendants (空乘) on some flights wear red-and-white hats to make more people learn about the event.
Kids can celebrate Read Across America with any book. But in honor of Dr. Seuss, they might want to pick up his most recent new work, What Pet Should I Get? It was discovered 20 years after Dr. Seuss's death and four years later came off the press in July of 2015. In the book, a brother and a sister visit a pet shop and have trouble choosing just one animal to bring home.
Anyone can participate in Read Across America. All it takes is grabbing a book and a few loved ones, and sharing in the joy of reading. “Taking out that book, like I'm going to do on March 2, and looking at those who'll clap their hands and start reading the book with you, because they've memorized it, you can tell someone has lovingly sat with them and read it,” Eskelsen Garcia says.
1. What is the aim of Read Across America?A.To arouse old people's interest in reading. |
B.To attach the importance to reading. |
C.To celebrate a famous writer's birthday. |
D.To attract more people to write books. |
A.By organizing a lot of celebrations. |
B.By donating a large amount of books. |
C.By spreading awareness about the event. |
D.By giving out a large number of fun hats. |
A.Because it is easy to carry out. |
B.Because it hands on many books. |
C.Because its activities last long. |
D.Because it involves famous writers. |

【推荐2】Sunstroke (中暑) is a condition that can quickly go from dangerous to deadly, especially if proper care isn’t given immediately.
Sunstroke, sometimes called heatstroke, is a result of the body temperature rising above safe limits. This causes the body’s necessary functions to stop working.
It’s usually pretty easy to avoid sunstroke, as long as proper action is taken. In that case, you need to act as quickly as possible to return that person’s body to a safe temperature. Here are a few tips to help treat sunstroke.
Call for help
Call to get an ambulance as quickly as possible. This should be the first thing you do, especially if the sunstroke person has fainted (昏倒). Also, call for help from anyone nearby if you’ re in a public place. If there’s no one around, call someone nearby if they can get there sooner than an ambulance. Ask everyone to bring you as much water as possible, if there isn’t much nearby.
Get the person to a cooler area
If there’s a building nearby, aim for that. Anywhere with plenty of air conditionings and water is perfect. If a building isn’t available, bring the person to a well shaded area.
Get the water flowing
If the person is still conscious, get him or her to drink water. If there’s a bathtub available, fill it with cool water and put the person in it.
If your water supply is limited, you have to save it. Dampen a towel or shirt and put it on the person’s body. Focus on the face, neck, and chest.
Fan the person
Getting moving air over the person cools him or her down. Use anything, a towel or sheet, a shirt your hands,or a piece of board. This is where having many people around really helps, as they can combine to fan the entire body.
1. When does a person get sunstroke?A.When the body temperature goes up beyond what one can bear. |
B.When proper care is not given immediately. |
C.When someone is exposed to the sun working too long. |
D.When the body’s necessary functions stop working. |
A.The chief symptoms of sunstroke. |
B.The cause of sunstroke. |
C.The first aid for sunstroke. |
D.The essential preventions of sunstroke. |
A.a guide book | B.a book review |
C.an official document | D.a medical magazine |
