We love our pets. In fact, for most people they are more than me re pets and become more like family members. It is likely then that their owners, at some point, are going to want photographs of their furry friends. However, pet photography presents its own special problems.     1     If you’re thinking of trying pet photography, here are a few pointers to get you started.

Find out about your subject’s personality and habits. Where does it nod off if the sun is out? What is its favourite toy?     2     It’s also worth spending a little time getting to know the animal yourself. Cats, dogs, horses, they all have personality, and you need to ensure they are comfortable being around you, and you around them.

3     If the pet is comfortable with you, and if it isn’t too nervous, fill the frame with the pet’s face. Get the eyes nice and sharp. Just like humans, this is a natural point of focus, although focusing on the nose or mouth of a dog or cat can also make for an interesting image in its own right.

See the world from pets’ perspective. If you photograph a pet while you’re standing up, all you’re going to see is the top of their head and their backs, not what you want for a portrait. Get down to their eye level. Try pre-focusing your camera and just holding it at ground level so you can look up at the pet.     4    .

Bring a flash with the owner’s permission. While greeting or playing with a new pet, fire a couple of test flashes away from them to see their reaction. In daylight particularly, they never seem to mind the flash at all.     5    .

A.Think about getting in close to your subject.
B.It’s worth a try just for a new angle on things.
C.Animals can be unpredictable, lazy, aggressive and excitable.
D.A good photograph focuses on the subject and not the background.
E.If they do mind, then stick with natural light and use a white reflector.
F.The more you shoot, the greater your chances of hitting that perfect shot!
G.Take time to chat with the owner and observe your subject to gain some insight.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。体育赛事为许多有抱负的记者和作家提供了练习技艺的肥沃土壤。这里有四种方法可以帮助你开始。

【推荐1】Sporting events provide a fruitful ground for many ambitious journalists and writers to practice their craft. Here are four methods to help you get started.

1     You may have an editor assigning your topic, or you may be a freelancer (自由职业者) choosing your own. Regardless, be familiar with the most common forms of sports articles and determine which best matches your task. You can leaf through your local newspaper, favorite sports magazine, or go-to sports website and think about what makes certain articles stand out.

●Be familiar with the sport you are covering. When you're starting out, if you have the choice, cover the sport you know best. Sports fans are known for their passion and not necessarily for their patience.     2     If you make mistakes in your report, they will probably tune you out quickly.

●Go to the game, and make the most of being there. Watch closely.     3     Take note of interesting details, such as how the players celebrated at the end or the feel of the crowd that night.     4     You'll find passionate fans, eager participants, and a good environment for covering a sporting event from several angles there.

● Start with a great hook. News article writing relies on an “inverted pyramid” structure, where the most substantial elements are found at the top of the article, and the information becomes less weighty and important as one approaches the bottom. Readers always start but don't always finish an article.     5

A.They are particular about sports articles.
B.Know the type of article you are writing.
C.Ask permission to record your interviews.
D.So make sure they get your best stuff up front.
E.Keep track of important plays, scores, and statistics.
F.They provide the most essential information of games.
G.Local sporting events are good places for sportswriters.

【推荐2】In today's world, technology is a part of daily life. In order to keep civilization hand in hand with technological advances, and to understand the connected future they will have, children in schools have to be taught technical skills. But how can teachers integrate (使……融入)technology into their classroom? Here are a couple of ways.

Teach acceptance of connected learning. In the information age, it's only right to teach kids how to jump at connected learning.     1    For example, a tablet PC could be used in art class to draw pictures or even signs for the school.

Use a video chat system to teleconference. The idea of pen pals can be strengthened by video chat systems.     2     In this situation, children will learn how to share experiences and build new relationships from a distance. Teleconferencing is a great way to teach children about teleconferencing etiquette (礼仪).     3

Develop a class wiki or blog. In order to help get your students active in class lessons, you can use a blog or wiki to make them comment on lessons, topics and current events. Students should also be allowed to create new posts about news or their thoughts.     4

Create a podcast (播客) for your class. Technology is always about being seen.    5    It can also be used to be heard. With a classroom podcast, you can read passages from a textbook or a novel or schedule discussions on a certain topic that's in line with your curriculum. This will teach broadcasting skills, speaking skills and critical thinking skills.

A.This is a great way to improve creative writing.
B.You can also upload videos to a private channel.
C.However, it's wrong to think it's only about being seen.
D.This will show them how to solve complex math problems.
E.This includes using technology as a tool or a way to learn new concepts.
F.For example, you can teach children when it's alright to connect and how to act when on camera.
G.These systems can also be used to connect with students from other classrooms that are far away.

【推荐3】How to stay focused in class

Avoid sitting with friends. No matter how much you want to sit with your friends during the class, try your best to avoid them.Talking with friends is not going to help you stay focused in class.    1

4     This is a wonderful way to become a more focused, successful student. When a teacher asks a question, offer to answer it. If he or she asks for an opinion, share your own. This shows the teacher that you’re listening intently during the class.

Ask a question. If you don’t understand something, never be afraid to ask.    5     And he or she can recognize the things you’re having difficulty with. Chances are someone else in the class has the same question (and is too afraid to ask!).They’ll be relaxed — and so will you.
