The Qinghai-Tibet Railway,     1     began service in July 2006, is the world’s highest and longest plateau (高原) railroad and also the first railway connecting the Tibet autonomous region with other parts of China.

A maglev (磁悬浮) bullet train that can reach speeds of 600 kilometers per hour (373 miles per hour) has made its debut (亮相) in Qingdao, China.

During China’s dynastic period, emperors planned the city of Beijing     1     arranged the residential areas according to social classes. The term “hutong”,     2     (original)meaning “water well” in Mongolian, appeared first during the Yuan Dynasty.

In the Ming Dynasty, the center was the Forbidden City,     3     (surround)in concentric(同心的)circles by the Inner City and Outer City. Every weekend, many bookworms gather in Liyuan Library in Jiaojiehe village, a book sanctuary surrounded by chestnut, walnut and peach trees     1     branches are used to decorate the building.

Deep in the heart of a rocky valley on the outskirts of Beijing, the wooden library sits seemingly in    2    middle of nowhere.
