My friend and I took a two-hour ferry ride from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Stone Town, Zanzibar. We headed to its famous spice (香料) farms. Cloves, peppers, cinnamon and ginger     1     (be) just a few of the spices     2     grow there and we learned a lot about them. After the tour, we went to the seafood market.     3     was satisfying to pick out some crab and fish for the cooks to prepare. Then we went to bed fat and happy. The next day we went to stay at a beach     4     (call) Paje. We swam, read and danced to African music there.

Very early on the morning of the third day, we     5     (journey) to the island’s southern tip. The guide told us the dolphin came every morning to eat and play. So we rode out and waited in the boat until we saw a dolphin fin. The guide drove the boat near the dolphins and asked us     6    (jump) in. So we did! The dolphin was shy, but     7     (eventual) they swam closer. One came so close and I could have touched it!

After that, we returned to Stone Town to explore the big old houses. Hundreds of years ago, the city was a huge trading port. All shipments     8     (go) east to the Indian Ocean stopped in Stone Town. The city was rich, and     9     (wealth) people built big houses with beautiful doors. I also visited a museum there and learned how Zanzibar had been influenced by the Kingdom of Oman. That is     10     the people look like they are from North Africa.

Several years ago, my wife and I     1    (take) a life-changing trip to Rwanda in search of endangered mountain gorillas(山地大猩猩).

The “land of a thousand hills” spread out before us as we drove. We were     2    (complete) attracted by the breathtaking scenery. Also, with such     3     inviting scene just down the mountain from our hotel, we couldn’t wait     4    (explore) it. When it came time to search     5     the gorillas the next morning, we did just that. During our trip, we climbed two of the eight     6    (mountain) in the Virunga Mountain Range: Mt. Sabinyo and Mt. Karisimbi.

The first morning, we set out at sunrise to meet our guide     7     helped us arrange our trip. The subject of our search was the Hirwa Group of Mt. Sabinyo, which consisted of a set of young twins and several others. A great Silverback(银背大猩猩) Muninya first     8    (find) by us got up to mess with us a bit before     9    (settle) back down to play with his kids. The second day, we climbed 2,836 meters up Mt. Karisimbi looking for the Susa Group, a family of nearly 40 strong Gorillas of all ages provided even more moments of family fun time to observe.

We wish we were still immersing(使沉浸在) ourselves in the wonderful and     10    (attract) Rwandan culture. We will go back again someday.
