It is said that there are about 40,000 different kinds of jobs in the world.     1

“Finding a job” is not the same as “choosing a job”. Many young people end up in a job which they are not suitable for.     2     Here are a few steps to help you think about jobs which you might enjoy doing after school or university.

First, it is important to realize what kind of person you are, which special qualities make you different from everyone else and what you are interested in.     3     If you like art and enjoy looking at pictures, that is an interest. But if you can draw a horse that looks like a horse instead of a big dog, that is a skill.

Then ask yourself this question: In the following three areas—skills with people, skills with information and skills with things—which are your best skills?

After examining your skills, the next step is research. To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers.     4

Finally, trust your own ideas and your own thinking!     5

A.It is your own life, so find something that you enjoy doing.
B.Choosing the right one itself is a difficult job.
C.We must know what our ideal jobs are.
D.There is a difference between an interest and a skill.
E.Ask your friends about the work they do.
F.“Chance” may play a more important part than “decision”.
G.Your parents may also give you some useful advice.

【推荐2】Although it is impossible to live completely free of stress, it is possible to prevent stress as well as reduce its effect when it can’t be avoided. The US Department of Health and Human Services offers the following suggestions for ways to deal with stress.

Try physical activity

When you are nervous, angry or upset, try releasing the pressure through exercise or physical activity. Running, walking, playing tennis, or working in your garden are just some of the activities you might try.     1     Your body and your mind will work together to ease the stress in your life.

Share your stress

It helps to talk to someone about your anxieties and worries. Perhaps a friend, family member, teacher or even your leader can help you get a better view of what’s troubling you. If you feel your problem is serious, you might seek professional help from a psychologist or a doctor.     2

Take care of yourself

You should make every effort to eat well and get enough rest. If you easily get angry and cannot sleep well enough, or if you’re not eating properly, it will be more likely that you will fall into stressful situations. If stress repeatedly keeps you from sleeping, you should consult a doctor.

Make time for yourself

Schedule time for both work and entertainment. Don’t forget, play can be just as important to you over-all well-being as work. You need a break from your daily routine to just relax and have fun. Go window-shopping or work on a hobby.     3

Make a list of the things you need to do

Stress can result from disorganization and a feeling that “there’s so much to do, and not enough time”. Trying to take care of everything at once can be too much for you and as a result, you may not achieve anything. Instead, make a list of everything you have to do, then do one thing at a time, checking off each task as it is completed.       4

Go ahead and cry

5     It might even help you avoid a headache or other physical effects of anxiety and stress.

A.Do what you want to do.
B.Allow yourself at least a half hour each day to do something you enjoy.
C.Physical exercise will relieve your anxiety and worry and help you to relax.
D.Knowing who to ask for help is an important step in avoiding serious problems later.
E.Set out to do the most important tasks first.
F.A good cry can be a healthy way to bring relief to your anxiety.
G.Laugh when you want to.
