【推荐1】Rock climbing is not just for grown-ups. Your children can also enjoy this fun-filled activity as well as getting its advantages. Aside from its heart-health benefit, it is also known   to   increase   their   self-confidence   and   esteem(尊重).   While   it   may   not   be   an impromptu(即兴的) activity like running or biking, there are many climbing walls that are now available, especially with the development of fitness centers and camps.

The great thing about having your kids join these activities is that it follows up on their natural quality. As you know, children are natural climbers. You can see them going up on trees or climbing tall ladders. With rock climbing, you can satisfy their urges to be a climber.

What’s   more,   it is fairly easy for the kids compared with adults. With a high strength-to-weight rate, they have less body weight to pull up, and they are more flexible(灵活的).

It is also a low-impact workout that tests your children’s endurance(耐性). It’s easy on their joints(关节) as they burn energy during their ascent. In addition, climbing walls are like giant puzzles begging to be solved. Not only does it test the physical aspects of your children’s development, but it also wakes their mental abilities.

This exercise also helps develop your children’s essential strength and flexibility. Kids are challenged physically as they pull, lift, stretch, and twist their way up. This activity also develops their eye-hand coordination(协调) as they perform their climb.

Almost anyone can do it although it may vary in skill level, namely beginner, intermediate, or advanced. But despite its reputation as an extreme sport, children can do this. One does not need to be super-fit to join a rock climbing class. However, good technique is more necessary than strength when doing this sport.

【推荐2】If you thought the game of football couldn't get any better, think again. Learn something about Bubble Football, a new sport that combines the popular game of football/soccer with zorbing(太空球).

Bubble Football is the idea of Henrik Elvestad and Johan Golden, two wacky(古怪的)Norwegians who thought football would be even more entertaining if players were encased(包围) in clear plastic zorbing balls. The first ever match was broadcast on Norwegian TV show “Golden Goal” at the end of 2011, but after being posted on YouTube, the craze spread throughout Europe like wildfire. In the last few years, bubble football matches have been held everywhere from Italy to Latvia, and there are now even online stores selling and renting equipment to anyone willing to try it.

The rules of the game are almost the same as normal football. But teams struggle to score as many goals as possible, except that in this case they also try to knock down their opponents(对手) along the way.

Scoring goals is hard enough in normal football matches, but it's almost impossible when you are in a plastic bubble covering your entire upper-body. Your hands are locked in a fixed position, so you're not able to use them for balance, but that's exactly what makes bubble football so fun. Opponents try to knock each other out by bouncing into one another to get possession(拥有)of the ball but injuries are seldom as the balls offer plenty of protection.

As much as we love watching these big guys chase after balls, it's even more fun watching them bounce around upside down with legs stuck in the air.

1. When did Bubble Football become popular?
A.Soon after it was broadcast on "Golden Goal".
B.After the game was uploaded on the Internet.
C.After online stores sold related equipment.
D.After it reached Italy and Latvia.
2. Unlike normal football, players can ________.
A.score as many goals as they canB.touch the ball with their hands
C.knock the players of the other team downD.get out of the zorbing balls
3. What makes the Bubble Football so fun is that ________.
A.scoring goals is difficult
B.bubble covers a player's upper-body
C.players try to get the ball
D.player can't keep balance with hands
4. Players of Bubble Football seldom get injured because ________.
A.they practice much before the match
B.the bubble balls provide protection
C.they can easily keep balance in the balls
D.their whole bodies are covered with balls

【推荐3】A study has found that a lifetime of regular exercise and activity can slow down the aging process (衰老过程). Researchers say that getting older should not necessarily mean becoming more weak or sick. Their research shows that a devotion to a life of movement and exercise may help us live not only longer, but also healthier.

For their study, the researchers looked at two groups. The first group was made up of 125 non-professional cyclists between the ages of 55 to 79. This group included 84 healthy men and 41 healthy women. We will call this group the “cyclists”.

Researchers then found 130 people to make up a second group. Within this group, 75 people were aged from 57 to 80. The other 55 were between the ages of 20 and 36. The people in this group were also healthy, but they did not exercise regularly. We will call this group the “non-exercisers”. Smokers, heavy drinkers of alcohol and people with other health issues were not included in the study.

Then, researchers gave both groups a series of tests. They tested their muscle mass (肌肉质量), muscular strength, percentage of body fat and the strength of their immune (免疫的) systems. Then the researchers compared the results of the two groups.

Results showed that the cyclists did not experience body changes usually regarded as a normal aging process. For example, they did not lose muscle mass or muscular strength. Also, their body fat did not increase with age.

The researchers also found something they had not expected. The study showed that the immune systems of the cyclists did not age either.

The researchers advise us all to find an exercise that we like in our lives.

1. How did the researchers carry out the study?

2. Which of the following is a result of the research?

C.The cyclists’ muscles remained strong with age.
D.The non-exercisers usually had health problems.
3. Which is an unexpected result for the researchers?
A.The cyclists had normal aging process.
B.The cyclists’ immune systems didn’t age.
C.The cyclists lost nearly all their fat.
D.Everyone needed an exercise in their lives.
