San Francisco, long one of the most tech-friendly and technologically first-class cities in the world, is now the first in the United States to prohibit its government from using facial recognition technology. The ban is part of a broader anti-surveillance (反监控)rule that the city's Board of Supervisors approved on Tuesday.
Xuzhou Railway Station introduced four self-service check-in machines on Jan 25 to offer travelers a more convenient and efficient traveling experience. Passengers can enter the station by scanning their ID cards and looking at a camera. After the facial recognition scan is complete, the gate will open automatically and the passenger can enter.

It was our first evening dog-sitting while our daughter was on holiday in Costa Rica. Louie, her dog, searched the house for his “mommy”. Then, that disappointed but determined dog had a plan.
While my husband Paul and I were watching TV, we heard loud sounds on the stairs. Something heavy was being dragged (拖) down the stairs. I turned around and found this six-month-old dog was dragging his large carrier down the stairs.
Louie looked at us, moved his tail and ran back up the stairs. We were curious about what he was doing.
We watched in amazement as Louie dragged his personal things, one by one, down the stairs: his blanket, bowl, ball and sweater. This project took most of the evening, and Louie never got tired.
What happened next made us realize that not only did this dog have a purpose but he obviously put thought and reasoning into each move. He put his things in the carrier. This was extremely difficult as the carrier had a lip (口) that was taller than him.
After Louie finished packing his things, he tried to jump inside. Once inside, he got the zipper (拉链) between his teeth and, with all the strength he had, he pulled up the zipper. I admired his patience. Then he lay down and went to sleep.
The message was very clear. He wanted to see his “mommy”. He had seen her pack her suitcase and go away. He must do the same so he could find her. He stayed in the carrier all night, and when I opened it the next morning, he was very excited. Believing he had arrived, he jumped up—but his “mommy” was not there. Then, I started making notes about Louie’s behaviour.
Louie surprised us with new activities every day. He liked going for a car ride with my husband. The possibility of stopping at McDonald’s for chicken was his favorite.

A Welcome Gift
Dario and his mother loved their new apartment. Compared with the previous one back in New York, the living room was large enough for their piano. That night, the two of them sat side by side at the piano. They played jazz music to celebrate their new home. The loud music filled the room and made them feel very happy. They were so absorbed in playing one piece after another that they totally forgot how late it was.
The next morning, however, their happiness disappeared. Someone had left a note under their door during the night. One of their neighbors had written to complain about the sound of the piano. The first person that came to their mind would be Mrs. Gilbert, who lived right next to them, but they were not sure. Then Dario’s mother asked the building superintendent (管理员) if he knew anything about it. But he said that they were all nice people and he couldn’t imagine any of them had done that. The note of complaint was like a big, black cloud hanging over their home. It was not the way they wanted to establish relationship with their new neighbors.
Later that morning, Dario suggested that they write a letter to their neighbors and apologize for their playing. “Maybe we could go and visit everyone in person.” his mother said. But the time-consuming and troublesome idea was quickly denied. Suddenly, a flash of inspiration went across Dario’s mind. Nothing could serve as a bridge to remove the distance between them and their new neighbors better than a party.
This idea swept the gloomy expression on his mother’s face. They both loved the fantastic idea. Over the next few days, they sent out invitations and prepared desserts for their guests. They decorated the apartment with streamers (彩带) and party lights to strengthen the party atmosphere. A smile of expectation could be seen on their faces as they held a strong belief that it would be a perfect beginning of their new life in the new neighborhood.

With the development of the computer, virtual reality comes into our life. If something is virtual, then it is created by computer technology and appears as if it were real. VR is a computer system with a special headset. When you put on the headset, you will look at two tiny television screens. They are so close to your eyes as if you see just one picture and you will believe that you have entered a different world. In many systems, you also wear special gloves. With the gloves you can reach out and touch things in the unreal world.
The first VR games, which have already sold round the world, enable you to drive a sports car, fly a plane, or fight an enemy. In the future, it may be difficult to tell the virtual world of the games from the real world outside. However, VR is not just for entertainment. One day, delighted children will be able to learn geography by observing exciting foreign countries without having to leave their classrooms. They will be excited to learn history by visiting the pyramids of Egypt. In addition, businesses will be able to use VR for many tasks. Pilots will be able to practise flying virtual planes before they go into the air. VR can help us in hundreds of ways improve the world.
However, some people have warned that there could be dangers. It might be dangerous if we do something wrong, or if people do not want to return to reality because it is safer than real life. Besides, we will forget how to live and work with real people.
There will be some problems with VR, as it is new for us. However, one thing is for sure: VR is here to stay. Get ready to step into another world!

Whatever happened to the fight of carbon capture?
Debates have been going on around the subject of carbon capture. Scientists, especially engineers and geologists, have strongly criticized green groups who claimed that carbon capture and storage (CCS) schemes are costly mistakes.
The scientists insisted that such schemes are vital weapons in the battle against global heating. They also wan that failure to set up ways to trap and store carbon would make it impossible to meet the emissions target by 2050.“CCS is going to be the only effective way in the short term to prevent our steel industry, cement manufacture and many other processes from continuing to pour emissions into the atmosphere,” said Professor Stuart Haszeldine, of Edinburgh University. “If we are to have any hope of keeping global temperature increases down below 2 degrees Celsius, we desperately need to develop ways to capture and store carbon dioxide.”
Green groups claimed CCS would not make “a meaningful contribution to 2050 climate targets”. They say CCS was not a reliable way to decarbonize the energy system and that CCS has a “history of over-promising and under-delivering”. Instead, they urged the construction of more renewable energy plants to be given priority.
But the claims were dismissed by engineers and geologists, “These claims are quite unfair” said Michael Stephenson, director at the British Geological Survey. “The technology behind carbon capture and storage is fully mature. It offers us a genuine solution to some of the problems we face in trying to deal with global warming.”
A government spokesman for the Department of Energy and Climate Change said, “We are committed to meeting our climate change targets in a way that is affordable and provides secure energy to families and businesses. We are considering the role that CCS could play in decarbonization of the UK. But we also need to take government spending into account. CCS had better come down in cost.”

请结合霍金的评论写一篇短文,短文内容需包括;
1. 你对霍金评论的个人看法或理解
2. 人工智能对人类可能产生的危害及相应措施。
