A top student who was paralyzed (瘫痪的) has received an eye tracker (追踪器). It enables her to _______ with family and friends on WeChat.

Lou Tao, 29, a doctoral(博士的) student at Peking University, lost the _______ to talk or move last year because of Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS, which attacks cells that control the muscles(肌肉). To help her _______, a care centre in Shanghai gave her an eye tracker on Oct. 19, 2017 that allows her to type by _______ her eyes. Shortly after, Lou sent her first WeChat message in more than six months _______ her classmates.

“She can _______ her ideas with the outside world using the eye tracker, which will be good for her mental recovery(精神恢复),” a doctor at the care centre told Beijing Youth Daily.

Lou started _______ for a doctorate(博士学位) in ancient Egyptial history in 2015. Later that year she had an ALS, and within 12 months she was paralyzed and had to _______ her parents to eat and drink. Jay nodded and smiled. “Principal(校长) Hardy wants to talk to Mr. Duffy. He was very angry with him. As for Mr. Hanson, Principal Hardy was disappointed(对……失望) in him. But, he is happy that Mr. Hanson came to him and explained everything. So he is not going to do anything about Mr. Hanson. Now Mr. Hanson is sorry for what he did to me.”

“And you,” Jay said slowly, looking from Hannah to his mother,” you two really helped me. It’s because of your help that I am not stubby(粗短的)anymore and I am on the team, not off it!”

A little smile crossed Jay’s face, “I’m still five feet six inches tall. That hasn’t changed at all. I may still be a stubs(矮个儿)to others, but not to myself. Not any more, I see myself differently now. That’s what I learned from the whole thing. Maybe I seem to be more grown-up.” Jay paused, surprised at what he said.

Two schools in the UK are testing the use of body cameras worn by teachers to help keep the class in order. However, this way of controlling pupils has caused different discussions.

According to the school officials, pupils are not under surveillance (监视) at all times. Instead, the cameras are only turned on to record conflict (冲突) or bad behaviour among pupils in class. “Teachers say that they are spending their time managing order in the classroom instead of teaching,” said Tom Ellis, a person who supports the use of cameras. “So this technology might avoid some bad events and help teachers improve their teaching.” But students are told when they will be filmed by teachers, and any recorded footage (视频片段) is stored safely.

However, some people think it is a step too far. “If classroom incidents (事件) are so serious that teachers feel the need to wear cameras, then there are better ways to solve the problem. Surveillance is not the solution,” said one teacher who doesn’t support the cameras for classroom use.
