请先阅读下面的短文,掌握其大意,然后用方框中所给词的适当形式填空。
last     simple     sports     fast   shake     tiger   stop     endless   achievement     though

Lots of junior high school students enjoy sports. My classmates and I had a lot of fun at our school’s annual(一年一度的)     25     meet last week.

It was pretty special for me because I took part in the 800-meter race for the first time.     26     I ran hard every day, I was still nervous on the day of the meet.

As we lined up, my arms were     27     and my heart was pounding(怦怦跳) quickly. Facing the     28     runway, I felt like a boat facing the wind and rain. I reminded myself that     29     joining is a victory itself. I started to calm down.

Just then, the starting gun went off and all the runners rushed out like     30     running down a hill. It wasn’t until I finished the first round that I realized that I had run so     31     that I had used up almost all my energy. But I had to keep running for the     32     100 meters. Blue veins(青筋) stood out in my forehead and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Looking at the runners in front of me, as they got closer to the finishing line, I really wanted     33     running and sit down. I reminded myself that perseverance(毅力) is a victory in itself and it filled me with strength again. With my remaining strength, I tried my best to run to the end of the track.

I ended up coming in seventh place. This might have been a small     34     to other people, but it made me feel happy and excited. I pushed myself to my limit.

Teachers and headmasters in Chinese schools are asked to eat with students in dining rooms at every meal. The new rule was carried out on April 1, 2019. According to the Ministry of Education, the introduction of the rule is a way of making sure of the safety, nutrition and health levels of school food.

School leaders from kindergartens to high schools should get together with students during school meals. The plan will guide them to pay more attention to food safety at school.

This move came after a list of school food safety problems in the past few years. In March, 2019, moldy (发霉的) food was found in a primary school dining room in Chengdu. The news led to people’s worries. Parents asked to make sure of school food safety.

Under the new rule, schools are asked to tell where the food comes from, who offers it and other information. The rule says schools should help students get into healthy eating habits. It also invites parents to eat with students at school to make them less worried.

In the United States, obesity rates(肥胖率) have kept rising over the past thirty years. The new law introduced by Michelle Obama has pushed schools to make low-calorie(卡路里) menus. Even the healthiest choices are commonly provided by large food companies.

Schools in Japan also give children a homemade meal for lunch. The food is grown locally and almost is never frozen. The meals are often made by cooks from the beginning. And they’re balanced but heavy on rice, vegetables and fish.

Every kid wishes to be an adult. Do you remember playing house as a child—pretending(假装) to be a grown-up like your parents? Did you imagine you were a doctor, a soldier or a teacher? At that time, anything seemed more exciting than being young.

But now as grown-ups, some adults find they cannot leave childhood behind. They become “kidults”. Being a kidult has become a lifestyle choice among young people across Asia. Some kidults collect toys they once played with such as Hello Kitty, Garfield.

Other kidults still enjoy children’s stories and fairy tales. For example, the British publisher(出版商) Bloomsbury even released an edition of the Harry Potter novels with an adult cover. That way, no one else on the subway will know that an adult is actually reading a children’s book.

“Kidults can be like vitamins to society. Child-like emotions(情感) maybe needed in such a hard society,” said Lee So-jung, a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He added that kidult culture may fill the generation gap(代沟) between adults and kids. It could give children and their parents books, cartoon shows and movies to enjoy together.

Tim Greenhalgh, an adviser to London explained that some kidults just refuse to grow up. They stick to childhood because working life in a busy and stressful city make them scared. Kidults would like to forget their age and openly show their fear of society and adulthood. “So, they can keep away from busy and stressful lives that are hard to deal with,” Greenhalgh said.

47. Which statement is one of the advantages of the kidult culture?
A.It can make adults face the real social life.
B.It can make our society young and full of life.
C.It can increase the sales of children’s books.
D.It helps build good relationship between adults and kids.
48. According to the writer, being a kidult is good in some way except that ________
A.It can improve the relationship between parents and their kids.
B.It can help kidults feel relaxed.
