With the development of China, many traditional ink paintings (水墨画) show the changes in southern Chinese villages. Shang Xinzhou, a painter from the Guangxi Arts University, has been creating traditional ink paintings for many years. His paintings show the life in poor areas.
“Thanks to my experience in Duomai Village, I can make the paintings much lovelier,” said the 36-year- old painter, who has spent two and a half years working there.
Shang’s paintings show the progress in the fight against poverty. His works show changes from difficult local conditions and people’s hard times to better conditions and happy lives.
“I like drawing people’s real lives, and paintings can be a bridge for communication between the local people and me.” said Shang.
During his stay, he put his paintings about the local life on the Internet to help villagers sell their products. To make the nightlife there richer, he sold paintings to buy streetlights, so people could enjoy square dancing in the evening.
Shang’s excellent works were popular in the village. “I love his paintings and they show great changes in our village,” said a farmer.
In recent years, more artists have traveled to mountain villages to record the development of China’s poor areas, telling stories of the country’s fight against poverty(贫穷). “I’ve seen the local poverty alleviation. The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics were more than a sporting event. They were also a show for science and technology. They are helping athletes (运动员) become “faster, higher, stronger” and offering you a great game-watching experience with the support of 5G. Let’s look at some technologies behind the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The fastest ice
The National Speed Skating Oval is said to have “the fastest ice”, as 12 new Olympic records and one world record were set there. The secret is new ice-making technology. Liquid carbon dioxide (液体二氧化碳) is put under the ice to keep temperature changes on the ice surface in half a degree. That keeps the ice a level surface and it is easier to skate on.
“Seeing” the wind
In events like freestyle skiing and ski jumping, the direction and speed of the wind can have great influence on an athlete’s performance. A Chinese research team developed a system to measure wind. The system uses AI technology. It allows athletes and coaches to “see” wind with real-time data (数据) on their
High-speed cameras
During the speed skating race, athletes can reach speeds of up to 18 meters per second. To catch every exciting moment of the competition, Lie Bao has been used for the event.
Lie Bao, is a 4K high-definition (高清) camera system developed by China Media Group (CMG). It can record speeds of up to 25 meters per second. It closely follows the athletes' movements and catches different scenes during speed skating, according to Shanghai Plus.

In so many ways, cyberspace (网络空间) reflects (反映) the real world. People ask for information, play games, and share hobby tips. Others buy and sell products. Still others look for friendship, or even love.
Unlike the real world, however, your knowledge about a person is limited (限制) to words on a computer screen. Age, identity (身份) and appearance (外表) mean very little in cyberspace. However, a person’s thoughts are what really matter. So even the shyest person can become a chat-room star.
Usually, this “faceless” communication doesn’t create problems. Identity doesn’t really matter when you’re in a chat room discussing your ideas or hobbies. In fact, this stress (压力) on the ideas makes the Internet a great place for exciting conversations. Where else can so many people come together to chat?
But some Internet users want more than just someone to chat with. They’re looking for serious relationships. Is cyberspace a good place to find true friends? That answer depends on whom you ask. Some of these relationships actually succeed. Others fail.
Supporters say that the Internet allows people to get to know each other intellectually (智力地) first. Personal appearance doesn’t get in the way. But others think that no one can truly know another person in cyberspace. Why? Because the Internet gives users a lot of control over how others think of them. Internet users can carefully change their words to fit whatever image (形象) they want to give. In a sense, they’re not really themselves.
All of this may be fine if the relationship stays in cyberspace. But not knowing a person is a big problem in a relationship. With so many unknowns, it’s easy to let people’s imagination “fill in the blanks (空白).” This unavoidably (不可避免地) leads to disappointment (失望) when people meet in person. How someone imagines an online friend is often quite different than the real person.
So, before looking for friends in cyberspace, remember the advice of Clifford Stoll: “Life in the real world is far richer than anything you’ll find on a computer screen.”
