Ivan sat on the floor covered with sand deep down in the sea. He was bored and _______. He watched other pretty fish swimming in and out of rocks. They were laughing and dancing _______. He said to himself, “why am I so different?”

“You are an octopus（章鱼）, Ivan. That is special.” The sweet _______ of Peter, a beautiful white dolphin, made Ivan feel better. Ivan looked up at the white dolphin and smiled. Peter said, “Let’s play games together.”

They were having a lot of _______ and they didn’t know they swam far from home. Suddenly Peter saw a large shark swimming next to them. “It is Big White…the biggest, most _______ shark in the sea,” he shouted to Ivan. Peter looked at Big White _______. Peter was very afraid and he couldn’t swim. Just at this moment, Big White rushed down towards them. An idea came to Ivan. He quickly sprayed（喷）a very dark cloud of black water to the shark’s eyes. Then Ivan and Peter swam away _______ got home safely.

“Are you OK?” asked Ivan. “Yes. That was the most interesting trip ever! You saved me just now, I am lucky to have you as my _______!” Ivan’s face turned red. “I guess being different from others can be so _______ sometimes,” Ivan said. “That is what I try to ________ you,” Peter said.

I live on the twelfth floor of a building. One afternoon I was coming home from a friend’s house. It was just after four o’clock. I got quickly into the lift (电梯) and pressed Button (按钮) 12.

The lift started to go up, but very slowly. And then, half way up, it suddenly stopped between two floors. I couldn’t understand it. I pressed all the buttons from 1 to 14. I called for help very loudly. But nobody answered.

Then suddenly the light went out, and I was alone in the dark. I started to cry and beat the walls of the lift. I cried and cried until I had no voice left. Then, I felt hopeless, and pressed all the buttons with my open hands. And all at the same time, there was a bell far away. It rang and rang. It was the fire alarm (火灾警报). I thought the whole building was on fire. I said to God quietly, “Just get me out of here. I’ll never be bad again.”

Just then, I realized (意识到) the lift was moving very slowly. On the ground floor it stopped, and the doors opened. A man was standing there. “How long have you been in the lift? It is good that you pressed the alarm bell. But haven’t you learned to read at your school?” He pointed at a small piece of paper on the wall beside the lift. It said: “Attention: This lift will be stopped for repairs between 4p.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday March 13.”

Thousands of years ago, people didn’t know that the Earth moved. They thought the sun really did move across the sky. The Greek god Helios was said to drive the sun around the sky with his chariot（战车）. But now, these ideas have all changed. Nowadays, it is the sun that drives our “chariot” around the sky.

So what does all this mean? Well, quite simply, there is now a plane (or “chariot”) that is powered by the sun. It has special parts in its wings. These parts absorb power from the sun. They absorb so much power that they can carry on flying at night. In the Greek myths, Helios had to take a break at night. It seems we’re finally even more efficient than the gods themselves.

This plane is called Solar Impulse（太阳驱动号）. It will fly across the US in May. This is very important for the future of the world.

So why is solar energy so good for us? Well, other kinds of energy cause a few problems. If you live in China, you’ve probably noticed the pollution. This is caused by burning coal or gas to make energy. The heat and chemicals from this make things work. But if we use the heat from the sun, we don’t have to burn anything, and there’s no pollution.

Solar energy is not all there yet. It needs to be improved. But the best thing about it is that, unlike coal and gas, it doesn’t run out. Solar Impulse could keep flying forever. Well, actually, the sun will run out too, one day, but not for another 5 billion years. That’s a pretty long flight.
