Guide to the Library in Feng Xian

The Library in Feng Xian offers different types of studying places and provides a good studying     16    .

Zones

The library is divided into different zones. The upper floor is a quiet zone with over a thousand places for     17     reading, and places where you can sit and work with your own computer. The reading places     18     tables and chairs. The ground floor is the zone where you can talk. Here you can find sofas and armchairs.

Computer

You can use your own computer to connect to the wi-fi     19     prepared for notebook computers; you can also use applications (计算机应用), such as Microsoft office. They are on the ground floor.

Group-study places

If you want to discuss freely without disturbing (打扰) others, you can book a study room or sit at a table on the ground. Some study rooms are for 2-3 people and others can hold up to 6-8 people. All rooms are marked on the library     20    .

There are 40 group-study rooms that must be booked through website. To book, you need an     21     account (账户) and a valid card. You can use a room three hours per day, nine hours at most per week.

Rules to be followed

Mobile phone conversations are not permitted (允许)     22     in the library. Keep your phone in silent mode as if you were in a lecture and exit the library if you need to receive calls.

Please note that food and fruit are forbidden (禁止) in the library, but you are     23     to have drinks and sweets with you.

I’m Jim. I like flying. A plane is much faster than a train. You can easily get food and drinks on the plane. You don’t need to buy them. It’s convenient. You can relax on the plane. You can sleep, watch TV, listen to music, and read books or newspapers.

I’m Tina. I hate flying. You have to wait for hours. The plane is often late. The plane is always crowded. You can’t walk around on the plane. Usually I cannot find my favourite food on the plane and there are never enough toilets.

I’m Tom. I prefer travelling by train. Trains are much better than planes. They’re cheaper, safer, and more comfortable. You can walk around on a train and open the windows. Yes, trains are slower, but it doesn’t matter. I can read books on trains. I can have a good time.

Last summer, Mr. White and his daughter, Mary, were travelling in the south of China. One day they wanted to go shopping in a small town, but they didn’t know where the biggest shop was. They didn’t ask anyone for help and decided to look for it by themselves though their Chinese was very poor.

They went along a narrow street to the north of the hotel, and took the second turning on the left, then got on a bus. The bus carried them to the end of a wide street. They found there was a fine, tall building. A lot of people came in and went out there. They thought it must be a supermarket. They were pleased to find the place. They entered the building. To their surprise, it was a great museum. They were happy to visit it but they bought nothing there.
