You have a lot of fun these two years when I am busy with my work. You go to picnics, visit museums and... with your mum. And you _______ have a new dog as a pet. In some western countries, many children do chores (家务) to get pocket money. They usually start to do this when they are ten years old.

School students have to do homework and study for tests. They don’t have much free time on weekdays. They often do chores on weekends.

Young kids only do easy chores. So they don’t get much money. But that’s enough. Many of them only want to buy candy. And candy is cheap! They often help do the dishes, sweep the floor, or feed the pet cat or dog.

When they get older, they want to buy more and more things. They want things that are more expensive than candy. So they have to work harder! They often help their parents wash the family car, cut the grass, or cook meals.

Some jobs are a good way for kids to learn new things. For example, they can learn how to use a lawnmower (割草机) or how to cook. Of course, their parents help them at first.

There was a fire in the factory at about 1:40 last night. A reporter interviewed some people about it this morning.

It was a Friday morning and a young man finally decided to ask his boss for a raise. Before leaving for work, he told his wife what he was going to do. All day long, he felt nervous. Finally, in the late afternoon, he talked to his boss, and to his happiness, the boss agreed to the raise.

The husband arrived home happily, and was surprised to see a beautiful table set with their best chair and lit candles. The food on the table smelt great. He thought that someone from his office had called his wife and told her about the good news.

Finding his wife in the kitchen, he shared his good news with her as soon as he could. They hugged each other and danced around the room before sitting down to have the wonderful meal. Next to his plate, he found a note that read, “Congratulations, darling! I know you’d get the raise! This dinner is to show you how much I love you.”

Later, on his way to the kitchen to help his wife serve the dessert, he saw another card that had fallen from her pocket. He picked it up and read, “Don’t worry about not getting the raise! You should get it anyway! This dinner is to show how much I love you!”

Computers are very important to modern life. Many people think that in the future computers will be used a lot in everyday life. Maybe we won’t have to go shopping because we will be able to buy most things on the Internet. There will be fewer books because we will be able to get all texts from computers. The Internet will be used to play games and see films. Most telephone calls will be made by computers, too.

Some people are glad about these new ways of shopping and communicating(交流). Others do not think that computers will replace(代替) our old ways.

Let’s take books for example. Some people think that one day we won’t read books made of paper. Instead, we will buy and read books by using computers. We will read texts on small pocket computers. The computers will keep many different books in them at the same time. We won’t need to turn lots of pages and paper will be saved. Computerized books(电子图书) will be used more and more.

Is Internet shopping such a pleasure as going to the shop? Many people say it is not. It is pleasant to go into shops and look at things you want to buy. It is also impossible that many people will want to read large texts on our computers. Because paper books will perhaps be more friendly. Maybe computers won’t change these two habits.

At 9:00 a.m. yesterday, bus No.26 was going a    71     Zhonghua Road when the driver saw an old man     72     (lie) on the side of the road. A woman next to him was shouting     73     help.
