三、阅读理解 添加题型下试题
I will never forget the day when I met my best friend for the first time. That day, I was studying for an important exam in the library, but there was too much noise. I was getting much angrier and of course I was not able to concentrate(聚精会神). I couldn’t stand it when I heard someone singing behind me. I turned around and looked at the person angrily. It was a tall girl about the same age as me and she had a big smile on her face. She was standing with a book of poems in her hands. I picked up my books, looked at her and said angrily, “Thanks to your noise. I’ve been unable to study. You’re so selfish(自私的)!”
Because I left the library in a hurry, I left my most important textbook behind. What was worse, the library was closed and I could do nothing. I was so sad that I almost cried. Just then, the phone rang. I answered it and a friendly voice said she was Jenny and asked if I was Jane. Jenny said that she had noticed I left my textbook in the library. As my name and phone number were in it, she called me directly. She said that she didn’t live far away and could bring it around for me.
I agreed to meet her. When I found that Jenny was the girl I had shouted at, I was filled with shame and said sorry several times to her. Jenny just laughed. I invited her to my home for a cup of tea. Later, we became best friends and we told each other everything.
How lucky I am! I have a nice friend and I value the friendship so much.
21. Why did the writer go to the library?
A.To borrow books. | B.To read poems. |
C.To make new friends. | D.To study for an exam. |
A.Her textbook. | B.Her phone. |
C.Her cup. | D.Her bag. |
A.she passed her exam | B.she met Jenny |
C.Jenny stopped singing | D.Jenny said sorry to her |
People can’t see you when you’re speaking on the phone, but they can hear you. So, the way you speak is especially important. In fact, researchers have calculated that 80% of communication over the phone is through your tone of voice; and only 20% is from the words you use. Here are our top tips on how to speak over the phone.
Facial Expressions
Your facial expression can influence your voice. For example, if you smile, your voice will sound warm and friendly; just the opposite, if you have an angry look on your face, it can make you sound unpleasant.
Volume
If you speak too loudly, you could sound angry. And if you speak too softly, it’ll be difficult to hear you. So, speak loudly enough to be heard clearly, but not too loud.
Gestures(手势)
Gesturing can influence the tone of your voice. When you gesture, you bring more air into the lungs, which can make your voice sound warmer. Gestures are also useful to help you stress the right words or even find the words you need. The best thing about gesturing during a phone call is that no one can see what you’re doing, so you can gesture as wildly as you like!
Movement
If you’re feeling nervous, stand up and move around. It will reduce the nervousness in your body and help your voice to sound more confident.
Pauses(停顿)
Using pauses every now and then can help you to slow down. This will make you sound more confident. Also, if you pause after giving some new information, it’ll give the other person time to understand it. At the same time, listen to how the other person uses pauses. They could tell you something about the speaker’s feeling.
24. What can people do to reduce their nervousness on the phone?A.Gesture wildly. |
B.Move around. |
C.Raise their voices. |
D.Make facial expressions. |
A.The speaker can show he is friendly. |
B.The speaker can tell more information. |
C.The listener will feel more confident. |
D.The listener will have time to understand the words. |
A.Your voice on the phone will show what you’re feeling. |
B.Using too many pauses while talking will make others angry. |
C.Speaking loudly makes it easier for others to understand you. |
D.The words you use are more important than the way you speak. |

Everyone needs help sometimes. People depend on one another. That's why communities have special people ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.
For example, what would we do without a community fire station? If a home catches on fire,as the Jackson place did last week, it might be burned down and people get hurt…or worse. We're so lucky to have firemen to come to save people and put out the fire, safely. If the fire station hadn't come so fast, the Jacksons might have lost everything.
And what about our local police who protect our families, our homes and valuable things? The police have helped so many families this past year, especially saving people and pets and protecting our houses and other things after the heavy rains.
Think about all the other service workers we have in this community, We have people who collect waste and rubbish and keep our community sanitary, We have road workers who put up and repair traffic signs and fix holes in the streets to protect not just us, but our cars! And where would this community be without the teachers in our school and the doctors, and nurses in our community hospitals?
Think again about what we eat every day; think again about what we wear every day. We cannot produce them, but we use them all the time. We get a lot from all these tireless workers who keep our community running. We need these people in the community. We depend on each other. Let's support each other and help each other. Only in this way can we make our community a better place.
31. What happened to the Jacksons last week?A.Their pets were lost. | B.Their car was badly burnt. |
C.Their house caught on fire. | D.Their valuable things were stolen. |
A.Firemen | B.Doctors | C.Road workers | D.Local police |
A.Clean | B.Safe | C.Quiet | D.Busy |
A.Did the writer make us laugh? |
B.Did the writer want us to do something? |
C.Did the writer tell us about how to become a teacher? |
D.Did the writer teach us what to do when a fire breaks out? |
A.Policemen Save People's Lives | B.People Depend on Each Other. |
C.Service Workers Do Important Jobs | D.Workers Keep Community Running |

Have you heard of “soft skills” before? To be honest, they’re abilities that are not taught in school. However, to be truly happy and successful, you need to develop soft skills. Here are some of them.
Understand the power of non-language communication. If you have watched a nature program, you’ve probably seen how some animals communicate. For example, a wolf can control its young just by using a different look in its eyes. While humans have the ability to speak, about 55% of our face-to-face communication actually takes place through body language.
Know how to make others laugh. I’m sure with your friends and family you have a great sense of humor. However, how about at work or when you meet strangers? Break free, and add humor to your actions. Then your personal happiness will rise.
Respect others. Unfortunately, this soft skill seems to be going out of fashion at present. Too many people have become self-centered, and put their own hopes above the needs of other people. Please make sure you respect all those you come into contact with. Interestingly, by respecting others, you’ll find they respect you more in return.
Have persuasive(令人信服的) power. This isn’t some kind of superheroes’ power. It’s an ability that many people have developed. If you learn to communicate persuasively, you will go far.
