Have you read Alice in Wonderland? Do you know the girl named Alice? But Mark Twain, a famous writer from America, once commented (评论), a warm and lovely girl, has been a touching character after Alice, after reading the book Anne of Green Gables.
Anne is an 11-year-old orphan (孤儿) who arrives in the town of Avoulea, Canada. She helps Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert, a brother and sister, on their farm.
At first, Mathew and Marilla hope to raise a boy, not a thin girl. Will she be helpful and useful on the farm? It seems unlikely: Anne is very imaginative, talkative and easily distracted (分心的). So at first she seems to be useless for a farm.
However, Annie proves that they are wrong. She works really hard on the farm. But she doesn’t lose her great sense of fun and this is why readers love the story. She doesn’t become “a good girl”, if “good girl” means knowing only how to work and live unhappily. We see Anne’s love for life everywhere. She knows how to enjoy herself.
Many stories for children are written to tell them how to behave well. Usually, it means doing one’s duty and not having any fun. But that’s not the kind of story Canadian writer Lucy Maud Montgomery wanted to tell. The book gives readers a helping hand rather than try to scare them into being “good” girls and boys.

If you have a yellow k in the second place of your first guess, you might try placing it in the fifth place instead many five-letter word end with ck. It is also helpful to think of letters often appearing in sets of two or three, like tr/ai/ing. Don’t reuse grey letters and don’t forget letters can appear twice.
