Are fingerprints(指纹)the most accurate(准确的)way to identify(识别)a person? Well, scientists in the US say that “brain prints” could be better. They developed a technology that can identify people based on their brain activity, and it’s surprisingly accurate.
Scientists recorded the brain activity of 50 volunteers. They scanned(扫描)the volunteers’ brains while they looked at 500 different pictures. The pictures that were chosen can cause very different responses(反应)to different persons. Scientists asked the volunteers about which foods and famous people that they loved and hated, and they used that information in the study. It showed that the volunteers’ brains all responded differently to each picture. When they saw different pictures, a special computer program was able to create a “brain print”. These “brain prints” allowed scientists to identify each volunteer with 100 percent accuracy.
Brain prints have better advantages than fingerprints. That’s because fingerprints can’t be changed. Once they are stolen, others can use them for anything they want. But brain prints can be changed. That’s because it changes when a person’s brain responds to different things, but the brain print is still special to them. It is impossible for anyone to steal a brain-print from someone since the person could then “reset” their brain prints. It means the person can change their brain print and make it ready to be used again.
Scientists think the brain print could one day be used in some areas to protect dangerous information.
Judge the following sentences true(T)or false(F)according to the passage.
61. The new technology to identify people is based on their brain activity.
62. The “brain prints”can help identify each volunteer without a single exception(例外).
63. From the passage, we learn that fingerprints can be changed.
64. The brain prints could one day be used in all areas to protect dangerous information.

Once upon a time, there was a couple named Sue and John. Both of them were artists.
In the late autumn, John became very sick. After the doctor visited John several times, he told Sue, “His condition is quite bad. John seems to have lost all will(意志)to live. If he doesn’t want to live, medicines will not help him.”
Sue tried her best to make John take an interest in things around him. She sang and danced, she painted their favorite pictures, she told jokes, but John did not respond.
“Five,” he muttered(低声含糊地说)one day, as he looked out of the window. When Sue asked what John meant, he explained slowly, “There are ... only five leaves left on the tree now. When the last leaf falls, I ... shall go with it.” Upon hearing this, Sue burst into tears. She went to their neighbor, Mr. Smith, who was also an artist.
Mr. Smith was shocked by the news of John’s poor health. He wanted his friend to get better. Over the next few days, it rained terribly and the wind howled(呼啸), but the last leaf on the tree held on firmly. Every day, John would look out and see the same lone(孤零零的)leaf on the tree.
Then, one day, the doctor came in and said John’s condition was improving. John said to Sue, “I’ve realized that life is hard, but I shouldn’t give up. That leaf has stayed on that tree for so long. It has taught me to live!”

I strongly believe the right words at just the right time could change someone’s life.
When I was 3 years old, my parents discovered I was totally deaf. But from the third grade, they decided to put me in a”mainstream”school where all of my classmates had normal hearing. So I was the only deaf child at Blue Creek Primary School. From the first day there, the other kids often laughed at me mainly because of my hearing aid(助听器)and the way I talked.
I was worried throughout primary school. Besides the problem of“fitting in(合得来)”with the other students, I also had trouble with most of my schoolwork.
One morning, Mrs.Jordan, my fifth—grade teacher, asked us a question in her math class. She was a large woman with a voice that went through the walls of her tiny classroom, and it could even spread to the hallway.
I read her lips and raised my hand right away. For once I knew the answer! But I was afraid when she called out my name. Then I felt uneasy to answer her question. I will never forget what happened next. Mrs.Jordan pointed directly at me. With shining eyes and a wide smile, she cried,“THAT’S RIGHT, STEPHEN!”
For the first time in my young life, I became a star. I had never been so excited before! Right then and there I made a decision that I would make a place for myself in this world. No matter how many difficulties I might meet in life, I knew I could overcome them.
The simple three words had completely changed my young life,“THAT’S RIGHT, STEPHEN!”
Answer the following questions according to the passage.
76. Was Stephen able to hear at the age of three?
77. What else troubled Stephen besides the problem of“fitting in”with the other students?
78. When speaking to others, Mrs. Jordan was often in a loud voice, wasn’t she?
79. How did Stephen feel after hearing what Mrs. Jordan said?
80. What does Stephen want to tell us in his story?
